In answer to both your questions Simon, its called style.
Wimmer has a penchant for visual stylization in his movies, I'd rather see a building in the shape of a biohazard symbol than a plain boxy looking one. And as for the glass, well its probably not glass armour, but it sure as hell looks cool when it smashes as they hit the floor.
Don't try to rationalize things too much from a movie - its science fiction, trust me you'll enjoy it a hell of a lot more if you go in with an open mind and believe anything is possible. These sorts of movies are meant to bend the rules. They're dark fairy tales where anything is possible.

Surely the armors are a high-chemestry product, some high resistance resinated material, which is simply not resistant enough for Violet Really, did anyone manage to find the *TV* spots on the net?

It bugs me that the trailer doesn't tell anything about the Vampire part of the story, I mean what is up with that. Apparently Violet is a vampire who must drink blood??? Is that why they are tring to eliminate her kind?

By the way it says that the movie will be in theaters March 3rd on it's official site. Is this true, has anyone heard anything different, I'd kinda like to know when this nuke is launching.

Apparently Violet is a vampire who must drink blood?? No, this is wrong... "She's not actually a vampire—she is, but she isn't," Wimmer suggests. "She's what they call a 'vampire' in this world, but she's really the victim of a rampant blood disease called hemophagia—HPV—which causes side effects in its victims that have been historically identified as vampirism—in more superstitious times. Basically, it grossly accelerates their metabolisms—making them a bit faster, a bit stronger, heal a bit quicker, but also anemic and therefore sensitive to light and leaving them with a greatly reduced life-span, à la BLADE RUNNER. As such—a blood disease—they also need semi-frequent transfusions, but nowhere in the story does anyone suck anyone else's blood." www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=932

"Don't try to rationalize things too much from a movie"- Mister Anderson.
- I don't, it's just when you watch the trailer for the biggest movie of the year a billion times, you tend to notice these things.

I got another question? Why do the troops have glass armour? That shaters? I'm not bagging the film, it's just a question. This is a mild spoiler so tread carefully. I'm mentioning it here because the exploding armor is one of those moments that everyone seems to hate from the trailer but actually works in the movie. Plus, the trailer has already spoiled the punchline. Here goes... The armor is supposed to be shatterproof. Violet punches it the first time and nothing happens. The guard mocks her weak attempt at fighting him off and she just hits it a little harder, shattering the front of his suit and knocking him off his ass. The movie is filled with a lot of funny moments like that (there's a great response from Violet to someone who threatens to kill her with his "bare hands").

I would perfer if the movie would maintain it's seriousness like Equilibrium, and not be one of those annoying films that makes the squares laugh in order to earn some money. I hope Wimmer kept in mind, the fans who will appreciate it years from now, like Equilibrium. Not just another chick-flick that will be forgotten in a few months after it opens.

EQ has several visual gags. It's serious, but there are several moments that are asking for laughter. Or at least where I laugh.

It's nothing like Equilibrium. It's a pulpy, comic book movie all the way.

Ah the brilliance of IMDB film goers, this was posted today on the UV board: "This is going to be gay. You heard it here first! And my reply: What a brilliant analysis. I for one can't wait for your next bit of incredible film buff insight. Hell if I hadn't heard it from you first I would have had to wander the internet for at least 30 seconds before I found some other pre-pubescent genius with your amazing grasp of the english language and your penchant for using nouns as adjectives.... Oh and Danko, you can probably find the TV spots at www.movie-list.com it's a site with nothing but trailers...

Rotten Tomatoes also has action clips from the movie, and for lack of a better word, they look pretty shitty. Hopefully it's just some sick joke, and the movie will be a whole lot better then that crap on RT.

Unfortunatly, this movie is at best, a decent trailer and could possibly be a sweet music video.
