SCREW THE STORY!!! I WANT A HI-BUGET, SEXY, CAR CHASE/SHOOT 'EM UP/ SLICE AND DICE FILM BY KURT WIMMER!!!
But... a good story would be ok so all those retards who say that action films are crap because they have bad storys will keep their friggin traps shut. And I hope that the trailer didn't show all the action in the movie, cos that really ruins movies when that happens.
Anyways... I hope for some gun kata!!!

uve said it there simon, who cares about the story? those who do have got to be kidding themselves, this is a genre film, what's this genre called again, i believe it's called A-C-T-I-O-N, we dont call this drama do we, so if it has good action it's a good film.

songjatshariff: remarkable comments, I agree with you. Truly: Peter Jackson, maybe, having raised trillions of $ with the Lord of the Rings, has now SOME freedom as a director. I don't buy that he had such freedom for LotR. I cannot remotely think that HE was the one requesting things like Legolas doing surf on a shield over the Wall's stair... and some of the dialogues are clearly intended for the masses. Come on, producers put lots of money in your hands, and they want a "safe landing", at least. This usually ends with some things that "could have been better", but this doesn't necessarily ruin a movie utterly (I'm a fan of LotR movies, for instance). Oh no, they'd keep their traps open anyways. It didn't @jenge: I agree, the post from cadaverous gets the point fully But let me add something to the discussion: MUSIC!!!!!!! People, I'm utterly convinced that music is the secret element of succesful movies. Try yourself to list the movies that meant the most to you, and you'll immediately recall musics and atmospheres, as well. When facing a story that some might consider "cheesy", music is the element that, ultimately, raises (or lowers) the chance that the audience will be willing to buy it. Make a really touching musical score, and the audience will buy ANYTHING. Try to see any film scene without music at all, and it'll feel a lot more "stupid" immediately. Maybe, in that early screen test, music was unfinished or missing. If so, I'm not really surprised of that early review. (anyway, if it's true that Sony cut and ended the film without Wimmer's cooperation following indeed the "suggestions" of that critic, well... this doesn't show in the trailer. They supposedly used the worst one-liners and a lame introduction: the rest is the good action work by Wimmer....)

I also hated the "mental" line. But the action and the cinematography look incredible. Using a Matrix song probably wasn't a good idea either. You also have a point about soundtracks, I can think of a lot of movies that were helped by a good soundtrack.

i have no problem with the cheezy lines, but i do have some concerns about over-the-top effects, i hope UV didnt over do the SFX... excessive effects is not a good thing

If you look at the images hosted at millaj.com there are a couple of cityscapes... indeed, they don't look bad at all! I was suspecting the trailer compression is unforgiving for CGI stuff, and I hoped in such a comment.. They shouldn't release trailers like that if they don't provide even a HighRes version, but, whatever.

Shichibukai is right. Over-the-top SFX with action is a very bad thing, it just takes all the credibility out of it, witch makes it boring, Bullet Proof Monk is a good example. What i loved about EQ, is that all the stunts were live and there was no CGI in it, which made all the action more real and exciting.
Can I just say something? I love action like the action in Shawn of the dead, ordinary people kicking ass, stuff that makes you say "Wow that looks like fun, I could do that!" that i reckon is really good stuff!

this is the first movie that makes equilibrium look a little stale! shit, i cannot wait!
the music choices all had to be the studio that has to convince the average theater goer that this movie is good to go.
the only problem i see the film running into is it falling into the action/scifi trap of not capturing peoples attention. underworld certainly missed this and hopefully UV will too

Kate (while very nice to look at & a half decent actress) just wasn't a convincing enough action heroine. Im not a big fan of Milla outside of 5th Element, but shes a far more convincing action figure (though her acting leaves a little to be desired) and has a physicality leaves all but a few female actors for dead. I'm hoping she can satiate my craving for a decent performance as well as all the action stuff (though the latter doesn't look to be in doubt).

Milla is a great actress!
She's a good actor and she looks sexy while she does it!
But she gets heaps of shit because of Resident Evil, thats all.
And i'm worryed the pubilic might not like UV because it has her in it, the people might think "oh woopty doo, another crapy Milla Jonovich movie like Resident Evil".

I loved the trailer, got me gibbering like a crazy mad gerbil on a quadruple expresso. But still, the enforced PG-13 rating... And now this rumour about Kurt being pulled off the final cut...
Anyone else got a horrible, horrible sinking feeling?
Ah well, trailer still rocks. And I have no probs with Milla. I think she actually pulls off action-scary very well. Whenever I see her interviewed, she always come across as a little unstable and liable to kick someone's ass at the drop of a hat. BTW, Am I the only one who loved the "mental" line? And I do mean LOVED. ;D

^I loved the 'mental' line myself, but as someone said, they maybe should've kept the fact that she was a hologram a secret. It would've been cool to think 'holy crap...how is she going to get out of that one' type of thing. If what has been said about Kurt Wimmer and him being pulled is true, 'Hollywood' sucks! There are ways around 'Hollywood'...it's slowly happening...where Independent filmmakers/creatives will not have to go through 'Hollywood' to show THEIR OWN films, movies, etc. If I could write KW to tell him about it, I would . Back to UV ...was the trailer attached to Underworld Evolution? If it was, I'm so upset because I missed the trailers when I went to go see Underworld Evolution .

Kurt should of exploited the German Film industry in the same way Uwe Boll was able too. Hate Boll or not, the man is a genius businessman. He indepently finances, produces, writes, directs and distributes his films. Even though they finally closed the tax loop hole that he abused in Germany, he's got 80 million dollars of investments in the bank.

But I get the feeling that Wimmer unlike Boll really does want to be a serious filmmaker and not just a business man. Boll's films get very little if any respect. I'm certain that is not what Wimmer is looking to create.

Back to UV ...was the trailer attached to Underworld Evolution? If it was, I'm so upset because I missed the trailers when I went to go see Underworld Evolution . Yes, it was when I saw Underworld yesterday. My hubby actually wanted me to ask at the box office for, "Two tickets for the UltraViolet trailer please." ;D The colors are much more vibrant on the big screen than they were on the computer very much like recent Asian films (House of Flying Daggers, Hero...). The action's insanity is also intensified. I'm certainly there but that is no surprise. I also noticed a quick shot of a graveyard scene that I didn't pick up on the computer...kewl...

My hubby actually wanted me to ask at the box office for, "Two tickets for the UltraViolet trailer please." ;D LOL. OMG! The ohh soo pretty Ultraviolet HD Trailer is now out over on www.apple.com/trailersIt seems to have new stuff in this trailer, but I really think this 'new' stuff is what I missed in the other small, compressed trailer on UGO. I even clearly saw "Billy Bedlum" (Con-Air reference), the guy who said 'are you mental.' I love that guy. The actor's name is Nick Chinlund. I didn't even know it was him until I looked at the big HD trailer . It's so nice and pretty...soo excited!

Saw it on apple.com. Looks much better on a higher res. The CGI scenery now looks good except the orange backgrouds, but just just not a good color for CGI. Same thing happened at the end of Episode II.

High Def Trailer rocks.
Things I notice now:
- Vampire Teeth on Kurt - All the nose plugs on all the non-vampires - The Uzi's magically appearing in her hand (it was kind of random before)
