[glow=red,2,300]Hello fellow Tetragrammaton[/glow]
I with my friends have designed numerous actual GunKata.
I have been doing Karate for some time now, and the movie is suprisingly acurate with the way they move!
If anyone is interested in these, Please drop a messag, And I will be happy to send them to you as step by steps or movies.

i would like to know how the movements were developed. i've talked to people who have made the same claims and all they did was alter preexisting martial arts movements to facilitate holding a gun in each hand.
a gun kata is just that; a kata specifically designed for guns. i would like to see an original gun kata and the applications of each technique.

This is not entirely correct with my gun kata, althought it does havwe slight reflections at some point to Heian Nidan and Kanku Dai! The use of Kokutsu Datchi and Kibo Datchi are few but they are there.
Apologies if this is not what you were looking for.

[glow=red,2,300]ClericOliver[/glow] The Kata do also involve some jumps at some points, If you don't like turning jumps then these kata might not be for you. [shadow=red,left,300]I love Kanku Sho[/shadow]

Hi fellow Clerics, I'm new here ClericOliver, I am too a practicant of Karate, and, seeing your posts, it seem that you do the Shotokan style, just the same as me. You know.. I was remembering how the last Kata, Unsu, seems that you are holding two guns in each hand, at the beginning of the Kata.. pretty incredible ^^ Send me a PM, so we can talk more

I practice tang soo do and was looking for something else to get into when I saw this movie. I'm strongly interested in seeing what you have to offer in terms of formal kata. besides, there's no better amalgamation than guns and martial arts.....

I think so too, ...more blood for the gears.

blood gets sticky, and eventually rusts metal. but i hear the gel made from crushing eyeballs can make a useful lubricant

despite the blood in the gears......there may be others that are a little more serious in the art of the matter.
"come on now boys...play nice"
I got no response so was therefore never given a chance to reciprocate the action..... try me....I might surprise you

Making a kata around guns isn't that difficult, and can be done from any martial art. Making one that actually works based on the geometry and statistics and all that is impossible, however. This is a MOVIE. Gun-Kata is completely fake. Humans are not predictable like that.
I can make a kata where I hold two guns and fire them in a similar manner to the movie Equilibrium while stepping around into cool stances rhythmically, and claim they are "gun kata". But guess what? They are kata with guns. Nothing more.

Kengou...having been in martial arts for well over 20 years as well as being an avid shooter and ex-military, I tend to think your comment, though understandable is false. Humans WANT to be unpredictable and unique, but human nature by it's very definition makes people VERY easy to predict. Of course, there is the exception now and then, but besides that, people react from what they know and instinct. And not necessarily in the order I just mentionned.
Sorry to burst your bubble Kengou, but experience and knowledge about tactics and combat bring not only me, as I'm no expert, but every great expert on these topics to agree. Otherwise, how do you explain tactics for starters? They are based on natural human reaction.

I agree with you to an extent, ebime. Humans are predictable in some ways. But not to the level of the movie. Not everyone reacts the same way to everything. Everyone is unique. Tactics are great for creating superior positioning for your lines of fire, and catching hostiles by surprise, or in particular traps, but they aren't based a whole lot on specific psychology. You don't know how someone will react exactly. Or where they will shoot or when, or where they will be exactly. You can't possibly know. Maybe if you studied them in-depth for a few years as a trained psychologist, you could discover their patterns of thought and their habits, but even then you couldn't predict what they would do.
I respect your background and I'll admit I have no real training in that area, but come on, that's just common sense. You can't predict how and where people will move or shoot in the depth the movie proclaims you can. And it's just that, a movie. It DOESN'T say you can do that stuff, it says Cleric John Preston can.

Ebime... what sort of military training.. I did a short stint in the airforce and we were taught how to use rifles, pistols and machine guns... at no time did they attempt to teach any sort of gun kata... and if the gun kata were able to some how give magical superiority in a firefight or conflict I am pretty sure it would be taught... tactics change and any strategy will be changed due to the tactics used and evolved...
