hey you know what i always noticed...in his interviews with dupont, he always sends a sharp glare to the sweepers standing in the corner...in the beginning when he asked him how he feels, especially...at this time Preston is not supposed to be feeling, why would he feel the need to send that share glance to the sweeper..........i know later on in the movie , hes lining them up Great question! I noted that in the beginning as well. My take....Preston is asked, "How did you come to miss it?" I felt he looked at the guards because he perceived this to be a mistake of his pointed out to him by DuPont. Perhaps when a Grammaton Cleric makes such an error, they are punished or executed. DuPont does go on to say, "An almost unforgivable lapse, Cleric." Not sure of this, of course. Anyone else? Other takes?

I have my own theory behind John's sudden look over at the Sweeper guard in the thread "How is it you came to miss it?" But what has already been suggested here can/is just as right in my belief. I think there are more than one reason why John suddenly looks over at the guard. But one thing is certain, no matter his reason:
John DOES have a reason! Somehow he suddenly feels a little threatened. And by instinct he immidiately check out where his "adversaries" are, he analyzes his surroundings. The question is, why does he feel threatened? Because he missed that his wife was feeling? Or, as my thread suggests, he knew about it all along but never reported her?

hey! good responses. what you said Trinity basically goes in line with Imylover, that he feels threatened and training has him look and analyze...
he also gives a sharpp nervous look when being questioned by Dupont as to how he has been spending his time lately. but this is when he is feeling...

I don't think he knew his wife was feeling, but that's another question...
I think Preston perceived that Dupont's question has a double-face, that he is tested to give a satisfactory reply. That's why, perhaps to focus his eyes not on DuPont, he is looking at the Sweeper, at the same time trying to build a response acceptable by Dupont.

he didnt know, that he knew. that his wife was feeling. That's what I believe too. John was genuinely surprised when he found out, yet I think he subconciensly knew all along. His special talent to know what the Offenders think. Perhaps the fact that she was his wife clouded his mind? Or perhaps something else.

could not read through all of them
But when Partridge says to John
"I assume you dream Preston"
and when Brant says to John
"I only hope to be as un-compremising as you .. "
all the preston lines are pretty much done, so I wont bother with those, My bad if these two were done as well

i also like the scene in the apartment, just after he has missed his dose, because he broke it. and he comes out for breakfast, and the little girl is throwing over her food. and that evil boy says coldly "stop that"
heh that was damn funny!

Actually, I think Robbie's comment to his sister there is his way to protect her! She was playing with her food, something you don't do if you're not feeling, & we now know both kids ARE feeling. And Robbie didn't want their dad to find out. That's why he told her to stop so harshly.

The whole sub plot with Preston's son is a really great part of the story. Also when you see that they use young kids to point out sense offenders form a crowd of people walking in Libria. That has so many implications.

That has so many implications. It also reminds us how children in Natzy Germany used to turn in their parents. And therein lies the sick irony, that Libria uses Natzi Germany as a warning example & yet uses many of the same ways to obtain Father's idea of control. BTW, I don't know his name but the young boy who plays Robbie does a fantastic job! Robbie is no easy character to play, not in that age. But he was very convincing in my oppinion & I like him a lot.

I don't know if someone said that before but I like the brief part he's talking to Partridge's body..." I'm so very sorry"....This scene is so fast but for me is so powerful.I just wish it could be a little longer with Preston speaking a little bit more.

Because the first time John said to Partridge that he was sorry they both knew that it was that "vistigial word for a feeling he's never felt". But we all know that in this scene, John is truly sorry! He's appologizing, for everything & also admits that Partridge was right all along. That is a big step for John to take, to admit that everything he was & believed is wrong!

I agree with that Robbie was protecting his sister. however, at that point in the movie not knowing that he is off the dose, i just think he is a cold lil bastard!

I agree with that Robbie was protecting his sister. however, at that point in the movie not knowing that he is off the dose, i just think he is a cold lil bastard! Exactly! The first time seeing it you really think he's a very disturbed kid that the system of society has totally in its unmerciful control. But seeing the film the second time & beyond you know of Robbie's & Lisa's true intentions etc. I find this subplot about the kids as one of the best in the whole film. I for one was totally surprised to find out that they were feeling & for as long as 4 years back! And once again, John missed to notice, just as he did with Viviana. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Here's another quote for you: "Be careful, Preston! You're treading on my dreams!" Throughout the entire film, in one way or another, they keep coming back to Partridge &/or that Yates poem. I like that!

But is it "the touch of grammaton" or "the Tetragrammaton"?
I thought it was "the touch" at first but after a few listens I think its "Tetragrammaton".

My personal favorite quote: "Oh, shit." ;D (that's from the scene where Father's taunting Preston, and the lie detector's going off the charts, then suddenly it stops. Gives me chills, really.)

It's quite long one, but I think that it is worth it: 'I know. It's hard to belive. How a cleric of the Tetragramaton to turn his back on everything that he's been taught, to become associated with the resistance, even becoming a champion in its underground, but it's true. I promised that I will bring you that man and I have.' He then winked of course And 'If I were you I'll be more carefull in the future'
