"Cleric this is a lawful entry...." Loved that scene. just the fact that Preston only has to eliminate one sweeper and the fact the other guys just stand there. This scene just subtle shows how awsome clerics are. The fact hit home with me cause I'm a navy M.P., ever try to arrest a seal. I simply asked the guy to come with me. What was I going to do force him? led to a running joke among my friends "shame what that cleric did to Larry.." "But you didn't even help larry" "I'm not as dumb as larry thats why I'm not as dead as Larry"

Hey Gualie, interesting perspective. Those of us outside the military or law enforcement probably would not pick up on those subtle nuances. Thanks for enlightening us!!

Debra, that quote is when Preston is getting the 'emotion test' done before he goes to see father.

One of my favorites that I don't think has been mentioned is when Preston says "I'm coming" then shoots the screen. That actually made me stand up and scream I was so excited.

Preston: "Every time we come from the Nethers, it reminds me why we do what we do." Partridge: "It does?" Preston: "I beg your pardon." Partridge: "It does." Trinity a.k.a. Mary O'Brien

"Mind the uniform, Cleric," Brandt says. Then he gets his ass kicked...royally...by Preston.

"Maybe I'm just better," Preston, in reply to Brandt. Yeah, I definitely love that quote, too. I think that whole scene is pretty cool. Did you know Taye and Christian did all their own stunts for that?- it just makes it even better.

I'm temped to say : The whole script

I'm temped to say : The whole script I wish I had the "shooting script" for EQ as well as the "draft script." For everyone waiting for me to finish...its slow go. The 54 pages are all scanned and all aligned. Now I have to go through each page individually and remove the blotches, enhance the letters, and reformat them so they don't take up as much memory (also to load faster.) Anyway...my goal is to have them completed by Wednesday or Thursday...

That quote is so simple, yet so powerful. I love that scene as well. I really like when Christian knocks Brandt's mask off. Didn't know that about Taye, but he looks very adept with a sword. I did hear that Christian did all of his own stunts, except for two. I know one of them is the flip from the handlebars of the motorcycle. Do you know the other one? Perhaps the Yuen-Wo-Ping-like flip later when he's in white? Thanks!

Yeah, the other flip that was done by a stuntman was the backflip Preston does to dodge bullets in the end lobby scene (when he is in white).

You're very welcome. I think both of those flips are really cool, especially the one over the motorcycle.

I LOVE that whole scene with the motorcycle flip - I like how the lights from the vehicles almost seem to make a 'stage' for Preston to kick ass

Indeed! Kurt Wimmer is so good! He's maing every images perfect. Ya, I absolutely love the way he frames his shots!! Even the seemingly insignificant ones are perfect like this one... Of course the perfect use of lighting helps as well. BTW, I love how you modified your signature...very nice!!!

"No. Not without incident." I cannot watch this scene without making strangled squeakings that can only be heard by bats and dogs. ;D ;D ;D I fully agree with you! This line IS the classic from this film! Among heavy competition from many others from EQ. I may not have your specific reaction to it, but I DO feel it within me when he says it! ;D

"I'm asking you one last time... Don't do this." A very good line too! It can also be interpretated in two ways, considering the way John says it. At first you think he's begging them to leave the trunk alone, & in a way you could say that is so. But deep down it's most of all a warning. Because John knows what he must do if they don't listen to him, a course of action we all know he had prefered to avoid. Once John starts feeling, he's no longer a murderer in my oppinion. He knows full well how to kill but is not a killer. He fights for his life from then on. The encounter with the Sweepers are the first proof of that. I like this double meaning with this quote. I have no idea if Christian did this on purpose or if we all just got lucky that he sounds like that when he says it. I think we all can agree on that it sounds damn fine!

What about "It's as vital as breath. And without it, without love, without anger, without sorrow, breath is just a clock ticking". I personally LOVED that one. So do I! What Mary (Emily) says here is the very essence of the film! What it's all about! The message the film wishes to give us. There are many more quotes like it that has the same depth, message & meaning. EQ is a very insightful film, which is partly why I rate it so high.

"I'm sure this must be some mistake.." "You are an offender!" "Ahh-ha I am not!" "No? Then why are you so scared of me? Now you will tell me everything you know about "Harold?" Partridge or I will have a Wagon come and take you to the Hall of Destruction for Summary Combustion." Oboy, do I just love this dialogue or what!? Especially when John asks; "Then why are so scared of me?" That sends shivers down my spine. And even if we fully know that he's one of the good guys now, that line can make you start to question that belief, even if just for a second or two. After all, they forbid emotions just because it was the cause of all harm in the world & what could really have stopped John from harming this man to get his information? If you are under preassure we all can do dumb things. I'm glad that John did control himself, though, that's why I think what Jurgen later says was perfectly clear to him, at least subconciously. Christian acted this scene very well, he handles anger etc very professionaly on screen overall. And if you pay attention you can notice that there's a lot of emotion put into John here. Besides, if John had been his old bad & unfeeling self he had not spent time threatening this man, he had put a bullit through him.

Damn, all my favs are taken. Anyways i thought this one was cool also. It was when he breaks down in the street after Mary dies. "Cleric John Preston............... you are under arrest" Then BAM punch right in the face. I absolutely love this moment. John's breakdown, Brandt's simple & cool statement, the vicious grin on his face while John looks up with heartbroken, red eyes & then that punch in the face. Very effective! Especially since we also share John's feelings & since the punch seems to go into the camera you can say that we get hit too!

"Its not the message that is important but our obedience to it." Talk about powerful line! So typical villain-like! Demanding absolute obediance. DuPont actually reminds me greatly of the Emperor in SW at times, this is one of those moments. Same ice-cold, unmerciful evil.
