About the "rebel scene" this is what I posted a few months ago. I don't pretend to know if this is what Kurt Wimmer has intended but its only my take on the sequence... It definitely is communication understood by both of them. The key is when the rebel nods "no". Then and only then does Preston stand down. Preston would have wiped out all the sweepers & Brandt (or at least tried). The rebels were willing to sacrifice themselves when they realized that a Cleric was compromised. Preston was far more important to their cause then they themselves were.
The "yes" nod from the rebel was to tell Preston he was doing the right thing in allowing them to be sent to their death. Preston's nod back was that he understood the gravity of their sacrifice.

That makes perfect sense to me, kind of what I was thinking last night when I was chatting to Hellion about it, we came to a similar conclusion.

I really need to find time to read old posts. It just proves that there are like-minded people around here. That scene was just so obvious to me and I'm chuffed I'm echoing your thoughts, too.

Maybe I should add that one to the FAQ page but I'm a bit reluctant since it really is only my opinion...

I agree with Libby, one possible interpretation, supported by a number of like-minded fans.

i was surfing the net and came across this forum, you guys are missing the big point, before he actually gets the dog there's a scene where brandt asks him why he didn't leave the mother goose book to the evidentiary teams. well, all the guns are n the hood of the car. preston hands brandt a gun, that was where the swap took place.

I hate to be another to add on to this rediculously long discussion topic, but I found something else. I think many of us believe the switch that occurs, which places Brandt's gun in the nethers at the time of the sweeper team murder, happens on the car hood directly after brandt asks preston about the mother goose book in his pocket. Some people have brought up that this didn't make sense because preston uses two guns to kill the sweeper team. Again as many others agree, each cleric is issued one gun or magazine rather to their name. If you look in the trunk of the car during the dog scene in the nethers you can see TWO MORE GUNS attached to the wall of the trunk. So, I don't believe guns are difficult to come by for the clerics, and not all of them are traceable. The switch occured on the hood of the cadillac before the sweeper team murder. The flash back to the execution scene was only used for the dramatic effect of prestons line, "in the end i think it would be better if you had it".
