I like that crunched budgets will tone down such things as uniforms and clothing that could otherwise become way too flamboyant... like the new star wars films 1, 2 and 3 . they have some over the top stuff for queen amidala and others. But still, this film, even with a higher budget, the filmmaker would probably still go with what he wanted - greys and whites/black colors for outfits. It's his vision, and with a good filmmaker like this guy, he would stick true to what he wants to see, and not go crazy with it.

When the Mona Lisa is burning, you can hear screaming. Each further time Preston sees Mary in her cell, her dress becomes more vivid in color. Near the end during a sword fight, I like when Preston slices a sword's sheath, which he then uses to kill one of the guards in DuPont's office. You can see Brandt's sliced-off face on the floor to the bottom right of the screen at the end of Preston's battle with DuPont. There are many more... yes I heard the screaming sound, with mona lisa burning, very high pitched the first time I saw the film. I didn't notice the color change in the clothing worn by mary. I will check for that. Lots of good observations, this is an incredible film, like i have been saying.

The Cleric Cadillac has all the gauges covered in white. I guess there's no speed limit Cool car. If I were that ate up on EQ (having the money to boot), I'd have it ;D I'm slowly putting things together so that by next year, I can dress up as a cleric for Halloween... I think you can get one of those model cadillacs now for not too much money. You can custom paint the rear side white/light grey like preston's. I think even some taillights on the back side were painted over. The interior was definitely a custom job, the door panels etc were completely white, meticulously clean. the one shot I think when he rushes home cause his home is being searched, you can see the door frame interior of the car. it's white. So that is definitely possible to do, you can even mask and paint the door frames and details yourself. depending on your budget you can do all sorts of things, but to get the overall look of the car down would be pretty inexpensive.

Hope you'll post photos. ;D type of cadillac car? seville ? 1992-1997 cadillac seville, possibly? ok, from imdb: "The cars driven by the Grammaton Clerics are Cadillac Sevilles with exteriors and interiors painted totally white" its a 4 door seville, a pretty angular looking car, model 1992-1997.

ok i have a question i dont know if this goes here but here you go. If there is no emotion then why when the guy is giving his lil speech on the monitors everyone starts to clap after he is done .Doenst clapping show type of emotion. yeah definitely. I think the drug blocks -really- strong emotions, like strong feelings of love hatred, exstacy, etc. You can probably still feel things a little , just not too powerfully that you would be motivated into a revolution or to attack people etc. they want to encourage pride in the system, and to be proud of the civilization they have created. So some positive reinforcement for upholding rules and laws is allowed. They are standing for an idea, so it is a thought process too. It's not a really strong emotion, the way preston feels when he completely breaks down and sobs on the steps, or when he is running to try and free that woman he likes.

According to the creator of this website, the Cadillac Seville of the Clerics belongs to the latest generation model 1998-2004. The article says that it's a 1998 Cadillac Seville STS: www.equilibriumfans.com/trivia.htmThis model is slightly less angular than the previous versions, but it has a simultaneously conservative and modern appearance. The newest generation Cadillac Seville is considered a mid size sedan, it's not very large. This was a very good choice for Equilibrium, it's an American car but it's somehow compatible with a film made in Europe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_Seville

Yes, a good choice! Another good one would have been a Mercedes W126, which is a European car but looks American-compatible. Of course, with that line they are not very 'futuristic' as they were out of production by 1992. But I could definitely visualise Preston and Brandt taking a ride to the EQ Centre in this:

Welcome michealj2 from me as well! I must honestly admit that I haven't seen Equilibrium for about 8 month until last week. And after such a long time it's so flashing and refreshing to watch it again, because memory of it faded a little and you can enjoy every detail once more, like you never saw/felt it before... At least that was my experience. Especially the church scene with Partridge and Preston was so breath-taking again... ;D Okay, enough of that... As expressed somewhere else it's quite interesting that this movie is more famous in Europe... it might be right that it's about the closer relationship we've got to totalitarianism due to various experiences of such in our history or maybe because the rather "silent" character and mood excepting the fight scenes here of the film is closer to our mentality.

Just saw your posts. Welcome on board, michaelj2. It's quiet here but there is definitely a lot to get through for fans of this movie. thank you. I just saw this movie for the first time. (now in 2012) about maybe a month or two ago. First time I watched it, it was scary for me, as I thought christian bale would get shot and die. But the second and third times I watched it i was able to really see more details and get into the movie. Personally for me, I think it's the most impressive movie I have ever seen. best movie ever. Better than the original star wars. I wrote a short essay about equilibrium and I will write more notes about it. It's got a lot to teach people, I think it's a good movie to show to students in high school, like maybe the last day of school.

But more recently there have been some elements of a police state in the usa, and we may draw some similarities to this movie there as well... But the europeans have seen what men like Hitler can do, the totalitarian complete government control, which relates to some things seen in this film.

Looked a little more angular to me, but that's basically it. It's a good choice, due to its futuristic design. i also liked those square military style trucks/tank type things..
