My chioce is the Kama, it is one of the most difficult weapons to master, but it looks so cool to see it done well is truly to watch an artist at work. See Sonny Chiba in "Return of the Street Fighter" for a good demo of the Kama p.s. mind the spelling in this thread I wrote it too fast.. thx

I may be old-fashioned but I just love a good sai fight scene. If you get some really excellent sai fighters to spar, its amazing.

I've seen sai sparring, and used to practice them myself for a time. It's one of the better offensive/defensive weapons for close combat. Not to mention that it's also a very discreet weapon as well. Spears would be good also, but I guess it all depends on the character in question. Most characters in such roles have melee weapons for close combat...

Well, although the Kama and Sai are indeed tempting options, in my opinion you just can't beat a Samurai sword (or in fact rapier/foil/saber/chinese sword/broadsword) duel. (Probably why I love Star Wars so much! - go those lightsabers!) Excellent demonstrations of oriental sword-play such as those in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Project A, Untill the last sword is drawn, as well as more western versions (Blade, Highlander, 13th warrior, any number of old 3-muskateer-type-films) are the most thrilling to watch. In my opinion.

i would like to see tongfas or something similar like a sword with tongfa like handle Yeah NoodleCleric.... I'd like to see a sword-tonfa fighting as well... It would be too cool.... Actually, it would be absolutely amazing to see an EQ sequel..... Does anyone know any news about that?

Who knows? Kurt Wimmer might read this site and find some motivation from the masses....;D
I like the sword-fighting, but it's no longer anything new. The varying sword styles is what keeps it different, but I've seen so many sword-fighting movies that something different is called for...

Gotta love those Nuchaku's. (Spin Twirl Smack Thud). After seeing DareDevil, I am now also in love with Sais (or is that with Jennefer Gardner? ;D No, it's both.) I love the way they can be flipped and spun about to attack with the point or the butt of the weapon. It looks great on film, comes across as a very fluid and fast weapon. I think what I'd like to see more of in movies is double-sword fighting. For example, giving the good or bad guy twin Katana's or Wakasashi's. It would increase the number of moves available, increases the danger, and look very cool when done properly. It might also be a nice idea to mix weapons, so that a combatant has a Sai in one hand and a Tonfa in the other. Or a Sai in one hand and a gun in the other...(are you listening, Kurt?)

We could even do a petition for an EQ sequel.... or something like that. Would this be a good idea, or am I just babbling?

I think we all dream of KW doing a sequel, but as all great artists would say, a classic is best left alone.
Id hate for a weak sequel to come out and taint the perfection that the first movie was/is

Sorry guys...I just can't restrain myself any longer and have to go into Wimmer quote mode... "...hopefully Preston demonstrates that in the course of the movie that with a gun, going down a corridor, he's infinitely more effective than a guy with nunchucks going down the same corridor...K.W. " (bahahahaha... ) My thoughts on a sequel...Bladerunner doesn't/didn't need one...why would EQ? So far most sequels are a mess (there are rare exceptions). The odds would not be in its favor and I'd really hate to see something this great cheapened by mediocrity.

I agree Jen, but what weapon would(hypatheticly) you like to see featured if KW was to put a weapon fighter in the new movie, or any movie.

Here are more of my sequel thoughts... Going with the analogy of Wimmer's that films are like drugs, many of us here are addicted to EQ and have had drug-like reactions to it. Personally, I want more of the same and I can't see a sequel filling that need or having the same potency as the original. I'd rather have a new higher grade than a diluted variation. Now back to the thread topic... I agree Jen, but what weapon would(hypatheticly) you like to see featured if KW was to put a weapon fighter in the new movie, or any movie. I was more teasing but in all honesty I really don't know. I don't think I have enough information (knowledge)...I actually love all weaponry but will always be partial to blades and firearms. That one used in Last of the Mohicans though was fantastic. What can I say...if it looks good on film...I love it... Jackie Chan seems to be able to make almost anything into an effective weapon and it always looks soooo kewl...even a horseshoe or branches on a tree... (what can I say...yes, I'm superficial )

In light of reading the past few posts, I would have to agree with the fact that many sequels trash the originals. Point in case: Conan the Barbarian [my personal fave....mostly due to the score] and then Conan the Destroyer. YUCK..!! Albeit, it was a different director at the helm and that was key. I honestly think that if KW were to lead as director in a sequel, he would tread carefully to keep the sequel seamless. It's when you change directors that really miffs things up. Batman, anyone. How many different directors did those 4 movies have? I've lost count

This may be a little off topic but I would love to see an effective use of the Guyver blades (in case you didn't know the Guyver is a comic book hero with long blades that extend from his elbow). I thought that always looked badass and could be really cool if they were used the right way.

I'd Like to see a mixed weapons fight, actually. Were both sides have a Tonfa and a Kama, or sai. But fight I'd most like to see would be a rope dart, or Chain whip fight. ;D

I kinda liked the fight scenes from the live action Guyver movies very nice... The Guyver live action movie was awesome! The elbow blades are sweet! Another movie that didn't see much light was the live action movie of 'Fist of the North Star'....

Fist of Northstar was a pretty good anime... Offtopic but since were talking about animes right now anyone see FLCL (furi kuri)? Pretty good/wierd action and an awesome soundtrack. Adult swim has it on at midnight. Not a lot has been edited so thats a good thing.
