To Jen and all the fans of Equilibrium,
after the release of EQ I had to wonder whether I would ever see another day fulfilling my life's ambition as a director on a film set again. Or if, in fact, as it appeared, the thing that I wanted most in life would now be forever out of my reach. Well, by the grace of God, in a few hours, barring disaster, I will step onto a set once more. I cannot predict the outcome on any level. I can only say that it was extraordinarily hard getting to this point and that there is no doubt that this is far and away in terms of scope, the most ambitious film of this budget to ever be made, and that the odds are definitely not in my favor. But Jen, the kind words of fans of EQ like yourself have buoyed my spirits and given me the strength to fight my way back to this point. From the bottom of my heart, thanks. I will endeavor to pay you back in the only way I know how - by making the best film I can. UltraViolet begins in 10 hours.
Your fan, Kurt

Dear Kurt,
You have given us so much in Equilibrium. Imagination, emotion, exhilaration. You have created something special (I really hate that word...special... but you have.) Something that has touched many of us deeply & resonated us into action, reducing some of us to giddy fangirrls and fanboys eager to join a monastery to learn Gun Kata.
Our gratitude will ever be yours. We eagerly await other worlds & tales you have planned for us. May God be with you.
Ever your fangirrl,
Jen

Dear Kurt, So far, your luck rests with films that abbreviate to two letters. Therefore, UV will turn out wonderful. Indeed, EQ was a great movie, and I want to thank you for it; but with enough effort you can make UV great too. My faith is in you! And if Milla Jovovich is on the cast like IMDb says, then, well, you got all that you need! *drools* ;D Your fan, ~Olego~

To Kurt,
Im not good at saying thank yous and all, but man EQ gave me a new ambition into filmmaking and everything that contributes to a film, even on a low budget you made a film which seems 3 or 4 times that amount, and the selection of your characters was immense, putting Christian Bale as Preston was a perfect idea (im a great fan of Christian). Your world of no emotion was a new and great way to think of a near future world, i have not seen many films which take out the highs and lows of emotion, tho you intergrate it amazingly well into your film. And ur own idea of Gun Kata, even tho it hasnt reached the masses it has reached a lot of ppl and the ppl of these forums, i have definitly been a fan of ur own style and ideas about it, it has most profoundly revolutionised gun fighting and martial arts, i hope for the best with ur new film ,UV, as you are a great director and i hope you can come up with some more amazing ideas, i will be the first one in the cinema to see your work!

I'm (almost) speechless!
To Kurt.
My hope is that with the release of UltraViolet, the filmworld will finally acknowledge your talent and give it the recognition it so truly deserves. Then we may see, by those who were so quick to criticise it, a re-evaluation of EQ as a film of depth and brilliance- a fact which those of us who belong to Jen's special community have long understood.

I look forward to Ultraviolet, here is a link at IMDB: www.imdb.com/title/tt0370032/Although when i read that it was another film that had vampires in it, I am intrigued to know that this little boy has, and if there is going to be any gun kata? Im looking forward to the costumes aswell, if they are anything like EQ's suits and coats then they will be impressive. Anyway, I wish you all the best Kurt sir with this new film, make it good!

Hi, Im not one for writing notes on these sites, but here I shall make an exception. I joined this site because I wanted to learn a bit more about the movie and just to see if there were many more ppl around that liked this movie as much as I did; yeah there are, more so, I think. Anyway, I have no doubt that your next endeavor in "UV" will be just as successfull, I only hope that it gets a much better screening that "EQ" recieved. I didnt learn about "EQ" until I was looking for a video to rent a my local video store and that is where I found "EQ", now I tell everyone about it and to at least watch the movie. I have purchased a copy, and I know at least of one other friend of mine that I told about the movie that has also bought a copy. Well, thats all I have to say, goodluck Kurt, will be looking forward to "UV" in the theaters this time. Duh1

I for one wouldn't expect him or wish him to do that, I'm always of the mind and opinion that having a letter from him to us is enough. He's got enough on his plate than having to worry about answering 101 questions about Gun Kata or supposed plot holes in his work

Dear Mr. Wimmer, I believe I speak for everyone on here when I say that we are behind you every step of the way. I, for one, realize that Ultraviolet is a very ambitious effort. That makes it all the more special to all of us. Every person here has been touched in one way or another by the astounding gem of a film that you have created. I know we weill all be eagerly awaiting your next project. You really don't need to thank us. We need to thank you for giving us such an incredible movie, and such a glimmer of hope that talented men such as yourself have a future touching more lives with your films. Good luck with everything from all of us, Mr. Wimmer. I am awaiting the day I get to proudly say "One ticket for UltraViolet, please." See you at the Movies, Mike

(yah sorry, ive forgotten my password and haven't signed on lately...) Anyways! Ahhh, Thank goodness for this site! Being practically the ONLY EQ site on the net, it has garnered many fans and became the only source for Equilibrium on the internet (besides official sites, but those don't even have the sheer amount of info this one has). It was only a matter of time b4 the Creator himself would take notice of the work you've done. Congrats to JenGe for sharing the love and passion for EQ to many fans and Thank You for speaking out to us Kurt! It really shows that people DO care when time is taken out to thank the loyal masses that love this film. I really hope the best of luck for Kurt and hopefully this site will last a long looong time, including becoming a Kurt Wimmer haven in which many ppl can discuss his series of films in a hopefully long successful career. THanks JenGe, this is great, hopefully you can get Kurt in these messageboards and we can an all-nighter Q&A!

To Kurt,
Well what can I say that has not been said before, other than…
MEEP!
Anyway, keep up the good work, its about time some decent movies came out with good acting, script and storyline, which is intriguing as well as stimulating. You were the man to stand up against other big budget movies with stars in all corners, and the backing of millions of dollars. It’s hard to stand out and say I’m different; this is a movie with a story, not s string of special effects with names that pull a crowd.
Good look with the next project.
Gabriel
P.S. If your ever filming in the UK and need extras, drop a line on this board or to any of the UK fans her and we can get you an army, or willing victi.. extras.

Thats absolutely fantastic to hear some news from Kurt & the fact he's aware of the large (and still growing) fanbase he has here.
And if Kurt is reading this, then let me just simply say thankyou.
You have given us all a 'diamond in the rough' - its something that stands head & shoulders above so many other films being produced today...something exhilarating as well as thought provoking...and for that you have my gratitude.
P.S. Please make sure Ultraviolet gets a theatrical release in Australia!!!!

Wow.
That is all I can say; take away any kind of swearing. Kurt Wimmer, if I ever meet you, assuming you then have a ring, I'll kiss it. Just like a simpleton would kiss his king's ring. I must say, the most moving part of Equilibrium was for me the soundtracks, and the part where Errol Partridge reads from the Yeats book - "You always knew. But I being poor, I have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softly because you tread on my dreams." Of course, I found all of Equilibrium moving.
You have created a new standard of action/sci-fi movies; but now that the matrix trilogy has been released, your movie, Equilibrium - which is indeed high quality, mind you - is now going to be buried amongst the galloping feet of matrix fanboys/girls. I find this to be unfair, but enough about that.
I think that if UV is just half as good as EQ, it'll be a giant hit nevertheless.
Bottom line, I want you to know that if you ever feel down, whatever the reason be, just think of all your fans. Think of what you have created, with such a low budget: Equilibrium.
You have created a new, ah, what should I say, a new type of "religion."
Long winded post, yes, but truly worth it.
- Robert L., your ever faithful fan from the north.
P.S. You should think about working with John Woo. You two'd rule the earth.

Hey Kurt I don't wanna just repeat everything that's already been said. I think I can sum it up with this little fact.
I've only ever taken a day off work to watch a film on "day of release" once. It was this year, and it was Return of the King.
Next Year, I will be taking the day off again for the second time in my cinema-going history. And the film responsable will be UltraViolet.
Go get 'em, Bro. And all the best with the new film.

Kurt, can I call you Kurt?
From the first time I laid eyes on the DVD cover, and rented the movie, I was hooked! As I'm sure you know, it's always difficult to grasp 100% of what the movie is trying to get across. So, naturally, I watched it again, and again and again.....you get the point ;D Of all the movies I have ever seen, yours goes deeper beneath the skin, to bone and sinew, and deeper still to the soul telling a tale that hits home. There are only a couple of movies that take me to that place away from everything. But none do it in your fashion, and for less money (what a feat!). I could stay here all day and ramble on, but know that I am forever your friend (I don't like the word fanatic), and will always look forward to your work. May you be blessed on your journey that is Ultraviolet. I can't wait! Please give a hug to Mila Jovovich a hug for me. She is awesome, and I'm glad she's on the budget. Reading your article from Movie Insider, it looks to be well worth the wait.

Not much can be said beyond what you have already read here; you have a very loyal following of fans and admirers of your art. All I can say is THANK YOU, for creating work of such integrity and originality. You are a truly gifted artist with so much potential. Equilibrium inspired me as it has many others, and that is the true test of ones art form. I look forward to all of your future projects and await their arrival upon the big screen. Keep up the great work.
