Hello everyone, First of all: JenGe, you did a marvelous job (and you really look like Trinity ). I'm happy to be able to share some thoughts on this board. My name is Philippe and I'm 27 years old. Don't judge me on my writting skills - I'm no good... but I can speak 3 languages: Dutch, Frensh and English. I live in Europe (Belgium - don't hit me please, I'm not responsible for our local politics and I don't endorse them). I'm somewhat of a creative person, I like to compose music, paint, design things or just decorate places... I did art school here in Bruges (Yes, Bruges is a real nice city and I like to live here). And now I'm looking to become a security agent (a cleric? ;D). I'm a utopian ideologist, so prepare for the whorst . I like my girlfriend, computers and firearms (what a combination huh ). Last but not least I like good manners... ;D

Welcome to the board and thanks for the compliments!!! Europe has a lot of those...nice cities. When I visited as a teenager I don't remember seeing a city that I didn't enjoy. Too bad we never got to Belgium though. Actually when I read that I'd have to say that liking your girl friend is a good thing!! (teasing grin!! ) Glad to have you here!! Its nice to see that you've already put some of your talents to use on the gamers board!!

Like Father , my name is Philippe and I am a 18 year-old frenchy -> near Paris I play computer (half-life classic), practise sports like hand ball and ping pong , I do like my girly like most of u (like urs of course ) I hope though ! I've found out that forum while looking for some equilibrium features and I am happy to see that someone started to run a forum like that , because , this is really needed for such a great film -> good job Jenge , real nice thing u did there. to be honest , I've seen EQ yesterday, I was looking for it for long and didn't have the chance to see it at the cinema (strangely he went away pretty fast) but my god , I was stunned during action scenes and the whole story let me hungry of more EQ that's why I registered today , hoping we'll speak about it for long

Well howdy everyone. My name is Brian.. I've been around these forums for quite some time now.
I live in Canada, I'm 15 and I've seen EQ an innumerable amount of times. I never saw EQ in theatres.. Internet piracy introduced me to the masterpeice and now I own my own copy!
I'm a sailor and I plan to join the Royal Canadian Navy whenever I can and tour the world (and blow up a small fraction of it in the process.).
In the dystopian series I've read We, 1984, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, A Clockwork Orange and Animal Farm so when a Matrix fan comes to bash us I'll most likely have something to say!
Well this is my lengthy introduction and I'd like to say HOWDY to everyone here!

Hey, BMaloney!
Welcome back...so good to have you here again! I enjoyed reading many of your past posts.
No worries. I'm a BIG Matrix fanatic, but there will be no bashing from me. IMO, EQ is better than The Matrix movies.
Again, good to see you back on the boards! ;D

Hi everyone! I'm Deimos (real name's Matt by the way), I'm 16 and I live in England. I've just finished my GCSE exams and since I haven't much to do over the summer apart from laze around I've been getting quite a few videos and DVDs out from rental shops. Thus I was introduced to EQ I read *a lot* and so was really pleased when EQ brought all those Orwellian and Huxley-based ideas to the big screen. Unfortunately I never saw it at the cinema - I didn't know it existed until I heard a Matrix fan bashing it as a ripoff. When I saw it I originally thought that it was OK - maybe a more sentimental Matrix - but then the more I read about it on this site, and the more I mulled it over in my mind, the more I liked it. I just have to see it again! And can I just say that I'm really impressed with the site - it was a godsend after searching for ages to find any EQ-related sites! Deimos

Hi everyone! I'm Deimos ... Hi Deimos & welcome. Glad you stumbled onto this little corner of the net & thanks for the comps!! In some ways it may be good that Matrix fans are bashing the film. They're giving it at lease some kind of acknowledgement.

Hi everyone! I’m an EQ-freshman (or freshgirl) and my name is Stefanie; friends call me Steffi. I’m 25, writing from Fuerth in Southern Germany, so please excuse my somewhat rusted English. I work for a company that publishes a variety of videogames-magazines. These days I’m editing videoclips for the DVDs that come with our mags. I love good stories and believable characters in any kind of media – books, audio, movies, plays, games… and I’ve always been a sucker for SF and Fantasy. I enjoy stylish visuals and I can appreciate good action – but only as long as it comes in digestible doses, else I’ll just nod off. My main interest has always been in the characters, their relationships, inner and outer conflicts. Guess I was destined to fall for Equilibrium. I also enjoy music (preferably acoustic rock), exotic and not so exotic food, collecting plush owls and moose, travelling and the rare pleasure of a good night’s sleep. #) Some of my favourites in - Movies/shows: Gattaca, The Game, Dead Poets Society, City of Angles, The Wisdom of Crocodiles, The Matrix/Reloaded, The Lord of the Rings, Twin Peaks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer 8) … There’s so many I can’t recollect them at the moment. - Writers: Charles de Lint, Orson Scott Card, MZB, Michael Ende, Robert J. Sawyer, Michael Crichton, Harper Lee, Susan E. Hinton, J.R. Tolkien … “x marks the spot” quotes from Indiana Jones as well as The X-Files (a former passion of mine ). Not so long ago, I found a short note on Equilibrium on the net. (I don’t think it was shown in theatres around here.) It was supposed to be Science Fiction, starring Christian Bale + Sean Bean and sort of copying from The Matrix. Since I’m always hungry for a decent SF-flick and have liked Christian Bale since my childhood days (I watched “The Land of Faraway” on the big screen when I was like 12! ;D ), I made a mental note and grabbed the rental DVD as soon as it got out. Which was but two months ago. First thoughts: “Yummy, nice looks. But the screenplay could use some subtlety. Never mind all those references to the classics – but even nowadays, why does every other “evil regime of the future” have to imitate the Third Reich? (BTW: Does anybody know if Kurt Wimmer is from Germany? His name is, and since the movie was shot in Berlin… I’m really looking forward to Wimmer’s commentary, which we should get around September.)” However: Door goes down. Lights go out. Half a minute of perfect darkness, until – Wow. Woohoooow! (I did mention I’m picky when it comes to action scenes, right?) Well, I enjoyed the rest of the film, I enjoyed being taken aback by the final plot twists (got to keep my eyes open for future screen appearances of Matthew Harbour!) and I immensely enjoyed Christian’s performance. All in all, this “first ride” left me with the impression of having seen a “good” flick. What really baffled me was when during the following days I experienced a tingling urge to sneak off to the video store and handle the DVD case. And then rent the film for “one more session”. Then for another one. And another one. And each time I watched it, I found it more fascinating. Scanning the internet (thanks, JenGe! helped bringing to light lots of connections and witty details I had failed to notice at first. (There were no subtitles for the English version, and I found I had initially missed several important bits of dialogue. I try to avoid German dubbings as far as possible.) Apart from a few, well, let me call them “exaggerations”, that still make me laugh out loud* there IS indeed a lot of subtlety in the movie! Not just within the script, but also in the use of camera and lights. But whom am I telling this – You know what I mean. ;D Man, I’ve got to get that DVD. Soon. Whoops, that was a long one. Well, I get paid for writing long articles – and they usually end up much longer than intended. Love, Steffi * Do they really have to demonstrate their heartlessness by torching the Mona Lisa?! I mean, that’s like “Hey guys, we’re gonna toast a painting in that scene tomorrow. That’s P-A-I-N-T-I-N-G. Look it up in the books and get us a cheap print. Something popular, would you?”

Well, needless to say I am the owner & creator of this website and forum. Jennifer Foust is the name and I ceased revealing my age when I turned 23 but to give you guys a hint I not only saw the following films in the theater during their first theatrical run but remember it as well; Raiders of the Lost Ark, Superman, Star Wars, Jaws. (Yes, I'm older than most of you but the Internet is the great equalizer.) Family, films, playing on the computer, & reading take up most of my time. I'm an action/adventure film junkie and found EQ due to Reign of Fire. I didn't realize that Bale could do action so I set about to find out what other action flicks he'd done. EQ was listed. Saw it seven times in the theater, three the first week it was out. Had my husband drive me 6 hours to Arizona just to get another fix then flew to Atlanta when I found out it and Wimmer would be there (an awesome experience that I'll never forget!!). EQ & Matrix are tied as my all time favorite films. Here is a pix of me with the CHUD guys in Atlanta... I started building this site in February when I realized that many of us EQ fans really had no where to go but to hang out on other message boards (CHUD & IMDB). Besides since the parent company had no interest in promoting the film on the net I decided someone needed to pick up the ball. I didn't want all that information about the film throughout the net lost. To date I have converted about 10 actual people and I have no idea how many virtual ones.
