For me: The Nether's Sweeper elimination... BAM...a few seconds later, whole team dead. Sweet visuals... Perfect. Absolutely. Nice choice, Wolfy.

The thing that gets me about that scene is that Preston is so deep in the Kata, he doesn't even notice the final bulb-blowout behind him. Me, I'd have have jumped 6 feet in the air!

I know what you mean, Libby! I, too, always marvel that he doesn't even flinch in that part. I watched closely, not even a flicker of an eye or a twitch. Now that's concentration...Cleric style!

I have several faves: 1. The dark room scene in the beginning. 2. The puppy scene, undoubtedly. 3. The scene where Preston beats to death the Sweepers with the butt of his guns. 4. The polygraph scene. "I'm coming." 5. The lobby scene. 6. The scene where Preston fights DuPont. If I had to choose a fave: The puppy scene.

The end scene with "father" has to be the best action scene I've ever seen. I mean, the dog scene really shows just how well he can dish it out, but the "father" scene, as well as being the climax of the entire movie, seems to show the true skill he has with the gun, and just how easily he can keep his cool in a fight. Of course, any action scene serves it up well enough to be a fav!

;D The best action sequence is....the one where Preston helps a group of the resistance to escape from soldiers.. The one where Preston use the bottom of his guns to beat up some soldiers... And of coures the last sword figth... Ah Gun Kata the ultimat martial art... And Mr. Wimmer I send you my best wishes in your new movie project ;D

i agree with darkman, when he helps the risistence(sp?) through that building. he breaks that guys arm then pistol whips the guys like crazy. but the lobby/sowrd/father fight kicked more but then any matrix fight

Favorite action sequence, eh? Well, that's hard to say. There are little things I like about different scenes. For example, anytime it shows both guns coming out of his sleeves (speaking of which, I wanna know how they did that) is awesome. I also like whenever the Sweepers are in synch with each other (IE: Stepping backwards from behind the pillars in unison). I suppose my favorite action sequence is from the "Not without incident" to the final duel with DuPont.
I'd also like to point out that I thought it was awesome the way that, even though he didn't look it, DuPont was also trained in the ways of gunkata. For being a political figure, he sure put up a fight.

I've never liked the hallway fight that much, the first time you see it, you don't think about it, but once you've seen it a few times it just seems more and more implausible, it's just a shame they didn't take more time to coreograph it a bit more specifically, especially given the mathmatical nature of the gun katas.
Perhaps as Preston advanced, the sweepers should have tried to creep round behind the pillars so there would have been a break in the gun fire which unless he ducked more (which he didn't) would have cut him in half instantly.
1 guy versus 30+ in open ground, now that would have been something special if done perfectly.

Word Snufkin. I'm pretty sure that if the money had been there at the time they would have put more time and effort into the scene. It does look cool and all, but it's just a shame that things like the two guys standing at the end of the hallway who aren't there till the end -it would make more sense of 2 were standing there firing at all times... stuff like that... but alas... Well... won't be putting it down more than that, it's still a brilliant scene the way it is

Yeah, those two guys at the end, why didn't they just shoot Preston as he makes his second set of kills? (after the stance bit when he turns and shoots the guys either side of him) He turns his back to about 20+ people and not one of them opens fire!
Still good though.

perhaps part of the sweeper job application process requires you to have the WORST AIM EVER... especially considering that G-36 rifles have built in scopes with red dot reflex reticules. if the sight is zeroed in, it is very hard to miss.
-or perhaps a side effect of prozium is making sweepers retarded...

another possible explanation could be that their visors are actually *not* see-through.

haha, maybe. a small price to pay for looking cool though.

they all have to take an oath to look cool, the wording of which being: -"In order to look bad-ass at all times, and inspire the maximum amount of fear and 'omg-hez-l33t' in your enemies, you will have to forgo the sense of vision, are you willing to pay this price?" -"I pay it gladly" By the way, I don't remember if it was you who said that it appears to be 2-layered glass in the helmets? but I saw it around here somewhere... My theory on that is that they keep breaking the front visor, and to keep the glass from splintering into the eyes of the actors, they added a second pane of glass or plastic about 4 centimeters further in (almost next to the face). This conclusion I've come up with after looking carefully at all the times they break the visors, and actually it's only once that you can see the secondary layer, and that's when they're in the nether, and Preston kicks the ass of the sweeper team using the guns as bludgeons, one of the sweepers in that scene (I believe the one directly behind him towards the end), when his visor is broken, you can see the see-through layer that's further in very briefly. Hence they've been trying to keep it out of view for the rest of the film...

My favorite action scene, when they take the wife away. Nothing compares to that thumb breaking business.

Apart from the obvious (puppy scene anyone?? ) my favourite action scene is the stick-fight - not because it's especially well made, they just look cool, and it's the longest of the action scenes*... and the longer the better (*Not counting the end of the movie as one scene, that is...)

I like it when Preston's daughter transforms into a robot and flies through that volcano with...no wait, hang on...that was the scene I created in my mind, doh!
My favourite is the one when Preston, attempting to lead the "sense offenders" out of the dangerzone, is intercepted by a a group of Sweepers. There is one bit when he utterly annihilates these two Sweepers--he breaks this guy's leg and then he snaps his arm at the elbow with his knee, it's quite graphic because you hear the bones go 'crack!'. And then, of course, he pistol whips about half a dozen Sweepers without getting so much as a bruise.

My favourite action scene is when Christian Bale stand between the two sweepers and they want him to get on his knees!!! He flips both of the Shotguns in different ways and shoots them right in to the face! That scene is so stylistic made I can watch it over and over! Christian Bale looks really cool!

I would just like to thank all of you who enjoyed the action sequences I developed on "Equilibrium". As the stunt coordinator and fight choreographer on the film I am thrilled at the response to all the hard work. Many people put a lot of time and effort into those intense pieces of action. Hopefully "UltraViolet" will be able to acheive the same results.
