Indubitably, it would be the "dog" scene in the Nethers... I could see it again and again and every time I will be amazed. However, the end sequence is exstraordinary as well. Oh please..... someone have to stop me..... I've already bought the second copy of this film from Amazon.... and soon I'm going to buy another one (if not more) in Italian version...... I know this is insane..... but this is my little help to raise the success of this film. Hope it could help....

The release in Canada flopped majorly, but the DVD release is going much better. Anyways, My friends and i were experimenting with adding other music to the fight scenes of Equilibrium and we've discovered that the song 'Breath' by nickleback is exactly in time with any of the fight scenes!! It's absolutely increadible, but the best one is the end battle, you press play after you see the leader's face for the second time, with the pause in the beggining of the song lining up perfectly with Preston's smile. It was amazing that each slice with the sword, and each shot with the gun was punctuated in the song!!! It's like the movie was designed for the song!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D But yea, that's my favorite action scene (w/music ;D) -Da MaN P.S. Try the music thingy, it's almost as good as watching the movie for the first time again!!!!! (i've seen it more than 10x, i might be addicted)

The release in Canada flopped majorly, but the DVD release is going much better. Actually, I don't think it ever got that release date in Canada at all. We had people waiting there to see it but when the date arrived it wasn't in any theaters that we could find throughout the country. Interesting idea on the music though...have to try that...

I'm from Canada, Montreal, Quebec to be exact and they just started showing EQ on the pay-channel network here and me and my boyfriend NEVER heard of that movie before we were wondering how come because we are real movie buffs and we see just about every movie that comes out and we had never hard of EQ before 2 weeks ago... so I'm pretty confident in saying that EQ never played here in theaters or we would have heard about it... such a shame though, it's a brilliant movie and now, I'm all alone in trying to promote it... but I'm doing my best to get as many people to see it as possible ;D

I have several faves:
1. The dark room scene in the beginning.
2. The puppy scene, undoubtedly.
3. The scene where Preston beats to death the Sweepers with the butt of his guns.
4. The polygraph scene. "I'm coming."
5. The lobby scene.
6. The scene where Preston fights DuPont.
If I had to choose a fave: The puppy scene.

I guess my two favorites was when he lead the group of resistance into the Sweepers and he took them all out with his pistolbutts. Also i liked the hall right before DuPont's room. That was awesome!

My favourite action scenes are the pistol-whipping and the "...not without incident" scenes. You can't help feel sorry for Preston (well, I can't) when he realises that he has to kill those sweepers. He's only just begun to feel, and I got the sense that his emotions are even more exaggerated by this fact. Just imagine what his guilt must feel like after killing the sweepers. Anyway, the way that the little brass thingies pop up from the guns and the look on Bale's face as he's striking the sweepers (kind of like "I didn't want to do this to you, but you left me no choice and now I'm disgusted with myself") make it a great scene. Plus the fact that he kills six guys without firing a shot is just awesome action. The polygraph scene, too, is one of my favourites. Preston realises he's been betrayed, that all he has been taught, all that he has protected his *whole* life is false. The face acting here is amazing - the smouldering anger mixed with disbelief as he slowly looks down. And then.... *beeeeeep* And both the audience and the characters know that Preston is about to kick some ass in style as he slips into the emotionless psyche of a Cleric. That line - "Oh...shit!" just sums the whole thing up; he knows he's about to be killed and is terrified (maybe the fact that he's about to die makes him feel?). Terrific moment in the film: the calm before the storm, so to speak. Deimos

You are right...... Just think at the scene in the Nether.... at what Preston said : "Captain.... I'm asking you one more time...... Don't do this!" WOW!.....You can really "feel" his guilt knowing what he was going to do. Talking about the polygraph...... that was another great scene..... so moving....... I felt so sad watching Preston almost crying when he found out DuPont's deceiving...

From the action sequences (not my favourite parts of the film, believe it or not!) I like the scene in The Nether best of all. After he pulls that awesome dual-handed pistol pose and everyone falls over, you can see him looking extremely grim as though he has to live with actually killing real life people. Beautiful. During the Hall Of Mirrors scene I love the way he almost casually slings his magazines to one side down the corridor. Plus the 'Slap Fight' at the end looked ace, and a very neat way of trying to shoot your opponent in the face while dodging his shots without resorting to Matrix-esque bulletdodging techniques!

As a guest I can't edit my previous post, so forgive the double post! I forgot to mention the pistol whipping scene. I can't understand why he has nails in the bottom of his guns, because doesn't the spent magazine unload from there?
Nonetheless, I love the details like how you can see the Troopers shooting, but firing at the floor as he anticipates their moves and hits them before they can aim their guns at him. And, of course, the opera that takes over as a soundtrack to the sequence linking the beatings to the shot of one man's visor just as one of Preston's gun butts smashes right through it! Classily done.

best action sequence?
well, uh... the lobby sequence near the end. From the moment he appears round the corner and throws the weighted clips, to the moment the doors fly open and he sees Father's office.

My problem is that my favourite scene changes from viewing to viewing, depending on my mood.
One I particularly like at the moment is the second bathroom scene, when he finds out Robbie knows about him. His voice is always soft when he speaks to him and the little smile and look of incredulity when he says 'And Lisa...?' are priceless.

I can't pick a favorite action scene from Equilibrium... but if Mr. Wimmer's word is as valid as I think it is, then I'm sure we're gonna see some amazing stuff in Ultraviolet.
BTW If you held a Cleric sidearm to my head and asked me to pick a fav action scene, definitely the Sector 7 warehouse. Just because every single death blow was Preston smashing a sweeper in the face. I loved that.

Um... thats not an action scene? Humble apologies - brain frazzled by shopping with daughter. Got to be the 'OMG.. this is going to be such a scrap...oops, didn't get to enjoy wearing the uniform for long, did we, Cleric?' scene.

Sweet visuals...
Perfect.

2.The final action scenes(Preston in white) Very true. That one's also the kitten's whiskers (I was going to say the puppy's......but ....) I love playing it in slo-mo and watching the cool TG crosses.

Favorite action sequence... hmmm thats like asking me what my favorite rollercoaster is.. they all have good points. I like the Dark Room sequence because of the way he used the "strobe" effect but the reloading sequences in the big foyer battle and the way he gets that automatic rifle to flip over his shoulder had to be some of the best action on film... ever.

I love that scene round about then where he snaps one guy's arm, then disposes of another one. The Sweepers then walk in to find Preston in mid-pose. He immediately just falls into step with them as though he had walked in their midst all along. Fantastic...

I agree the sparring between Brandt and Preston is awesome. Mr. Wimmer talks about this in the commentary, where he says the stuff about Preston using the Blind Swordsman style vs. Brandt's traditional style.
So much symbolism there, it's kind of a parallel to Preston being the first awakened individual of the Tetra-Grammaton e.g. he holds his sword differently; as opposed to the way apparently he was supposed to be trained, the traditional way everyone else does it, like Brandt. I thought that was cool.
