Even JenGe has been AWOL for quite some time now. A few of us hardy souls are still carrying the torch for EQ. Actually invisiblescientist also reported the Total Recall news...but it's always good to be reminded about Mr Wimmer's projects...so thanks for taking the time to post here again.

Actually the good news is that the filming will begin in March! It will be filmed in Toronto, with a budget of $200 million (the original Total Recall directed by Paul Verhoeven had a budget of $65 million.)
Let's recall that in the original 1990 Verhoeven version of the movie there was also a tyrant boss, trying to infiltrate an unaware agent into to the Resistance. Hopefully time Kurt Wimmer will make the film even better.
The new Total Recall movie will not be on Mars, but on Earth, in a more "local" environment.
But in view of the popularity of Salt, Wimmer probably gained some recognition, and as a result, hopefully he will get a good budget for a movie he can also direct in a few years.
Having visited friends in one of the Baltic countries many times, which was one of the former Soviet block countries with many decrepit military bases, I noticed that this was reminiscent of the first scene of Equilibrium. In that country which I often visit, I saw abandoned Soviet army barracks, surrounded by a vast asphalt parking lot, just like in the first scene of Equilibrium with the abandoned East German army barracks. and the whole atmosphere was indissociable from Equilibrium.

This are really good news! I'm a big fan of the original... what can I say, I grew up with it lol (among other pearls lol) So I'm very thrilled that Mr. Wimmer is writing it!!

Let me correct myself, it turns out that according to the most recent information, the budget of the new Total Recall is about $125 million, not $200 million. This remake of Total Recall is not as good as the original: I am disappointed. The plot does not contain the mind games and intrigue that Kurt Wimmer is known for. But this movie was written by 4 people, not just by Wimmer, and the director had the last word in the filming process. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/total_recall_2010/

Yah the Total REcall remake was ok but not great. As i watched it I had a feeling of "why" the entire time. Just not a neccessary remake that added nothing new to the mix.
