Has anyone noticed similarities between these two films?
The Director of Street Kings (David Ayer) and one of the Writers (Kurt Wimmer) coincidentally both worked with Christian Bale previously, but Wimmer really appears to have put his "Equilibrium stamp" on Street Kings - with several parallels and common elements becoming evident as you watch the movie (I've tried listing them below in 2 columns for comparison):
Also little incidental moments which may or may not be coincidental, like when Wander (Forest Whitaker) says: "I won't give you another dose here," or the act of "blowing the bulbs" before going in to shoot the bad guys.

EQUILIBRIUM | STREET KINGS |
Clerics | Cops |
Pivotal moment early on involves death of a "friend" |
Main desensitised character now begins to "feel" |
Main character (Preston) boasts: "We're Tetragrammaton, we can do anything." | Main character (Ludlow) boasts: "We're the police, we can do whatever the hell we want." |
Dupont (authority) suspects Preston of being a traitor. | Biggs (authority) suspects Ludlow of being a traitor. |
Preston has seemingly "chosen" not to see the obvious Sense Offense of his wife & Partridge. | Ludlow is accused of similar behaviour: "You choose not to see." |
"Treasure" of Sense Offense concealed behind wall which was smashed through, and other things "concealed" (Underground entrance behind Library, Prozium behind the mirror) | "Treasure" concealed behind a wall which was smashed through. |
The Dune concept of "The Sleeper has awakened" - ie, once Preston was off the dose, there was no other outcome. | Biggs (Laurie) says: "Once your eyes were opened, there was no other outcome." ("The Sleeper has awakened") |
Also little incidental moments which may or may not be coincidental, like when Wander (Forest Whitaker) says: "I won't give you another dose here," or the act of "blowing the bulbs" before going in to shoot the bad guys.
