OK, subject may seem confusing, I wasn't sure what to call this but I have a question.
As I'm sure some of you know, in the directors commentary, Wimmer says that had planned a much bigger fight at the end of Equilibrium but that they simply ran out of time to film it so it was cut down. They also said they weren't allowed to discuss any of the ideas for said fight in case they wanted to use it in a future film. So I'm dying to know if this fight, which had to be removed much to the disappointment of the cast/crew, was used in Ultra Violet, and if anyone knows what he was talking about. If anyone has the Ultra Violet dvd and has listened to the directors commentary that may know if he's mentioned something along these lines, I'd really appreciate it if you'd comment. I'm so curious to know what they had planned to do. And if you don't know, and no one does ... any theories?

The only comment I know linking EQ to UV, Gun-Kata-wise, was that UV contained GK done as Wimmer had wanted to do it before. The phrase I remember seeing is: "Gun Kata as it was meant to be." That is a direct quote from an interview with Wimmer, and it didn't come off the UV DVD commentary because the UV DVD didn't exist yet. I don't remember where I saw the interview. The comment didn't have any significance for me at the time because at the time I'd never heard of either EQ or Gun Kata. That should make everything as clear as mud.

In the OS it goes down like this www.equilibriumfans.com/zequilibriumscript101.BMPFrom what I remember...and I'm sure it's posted somewhere...KW really wanted to do this whole 'bullets colliding with each other' thing whilst Preston and DuPont were fighting, demonstrating the accuracy of the Clerics' skills in close combat. Basically he ran out of money and time and it didn't come off so I think he planned it to happen in Ultraviolet...

I think the Blood Chinois fight scene was more along the lines of what he had in mind. Personally, I liked the "push hands" kung-fu style in the final fight of EQ. My only beef with it is how deaf both fighters would have been. DuPont: "I feel..." Preston: "WHAAAAAA? " DuPont: "Come again?"

Ahh yes I've seen this one.
...
ya... not gonna lie to you guys, I'm glad I didn't see this in EQ. The best music to couple this scene with would be Benny Hill. It's just absurd that these men elect to form a firing 'circle' rather than the obvious and effective 'column'. surrounding someone with swords, makes sense. guns? no.

That's true ... one thinks of the person in the middle simply ducking and letting all the surrounding shooters cap each other. However, it didn't work that way for me watching UV ... which is a tribute to--er, something.
