Aedh and I both have our reasons for being more than a little disappointed in this movie from the point of view of where it was filmed on location. Suffice it to say that all the Washington State locations from the original book---with all the obvious benefits that a big Hollywood film crew brings to small local economies---lost out big time...and most of it was filmed in Oregon instead! Still...here's a piece posted by Empire... www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=22501

I second what Mira said ... on the other hand, it's comforting to know that a lot of those showbiz types still consider this neighbourhood to be discouragingly remote. We're safe for a few years yet.

I haven't been "Twilight-ed" yet but I have a few friends that are rabid fans of the books. They are not thrilled with some of the stuff in the trailer or the casing choice for Edward. Since I have not read it I have no clue.

Boo - I didn't know that they didn't film in the original settings - what a waste!
I liked the books - mainly because of the vampires lol ... but it wasn't the BEST series ever... serious writing flaws and just all around dull banter at times. But the characters took on a life of their own to me - so I am looking forward to the movie.
Of course - it could go horribly wrong lol.....
I was at the ComicCon panel for Twilight - seriously afraid there lol.... there were so many girls screaming and wanting to have the guys' children... it was kinda creepy to be honest.

Its quite interesting that Rob Pattinson, the gent who played Cedric Diggory in HP gets the lead male role of Edward Cullen in Twilight. It's said that Kristen, who plays Bella, actually *chose* him to play Edward. That's a very clever way to go from one high profile movie to another. Not sure if I'm gonna go and see it yet or not, as I've got the books, anyway, so if I don't go I can still picture him so anyway... its a win-win for me whichever way I decide to play it. It just premiered locally, and it seems like the whole community--despite being pretty much scorned for the filming--has gone quietly "Twi-nutty." Today having been a Sunday, I couldn't help notice that even women coming out of churches were wearing black in greater amounts and snappier style than I remember seeing for some time past.
