I just found out recently that Wimmer wrote the screenplay for this Keanu Reeves/Forest Whitaker actioner. Other people have also been named in the screenplay so I wonder how much is his. But hey, he's still going. Haven't seen the film yet, but we'll make this the official thread starter.

From reviews they say that the story is weak but the gritty action keeps you in the film.

Bleah. So far the film has gotten attacked, with story weaknesses blamed on the two writers who punched up Ellroy's original script (Wimmer and Jamie Moss.) Reviewers can't seem to wait to mention Ultraviolet, and one unfairly brought up Sphere (which Wimmer did work on the screenplay, but he said that none of his work made it to screen. He used several expletives when talking about that here. ) Haven't seen it, mostly because it doesn't look compelling. Looks like just another bad cop in even worse situation sort of thing. I did find it interesting it was directed by David Ayer, who wrote and directed Harsh Times. Which was entirely supported by it's cast.

Now that you mention harsh times I think it would be kick ass to have a gritty ass superviolent cop movie with christian Bale and Keanu Reeves as partners. You would get everthing in this team up Eye candy for the ladies and and for us men we have two of the most craziest guys tearing the hell out of the street and finding crazy sick ways to kill bad guys . Preston and Neo BRING IT ON!!! ;D

Kinda like "3:10 To Yuma" meets "100 Bullets?"
They could call it "310 Bullets!" ;D
