Well, Walldude's kid freaked out and barfed after the first 40 minutes or so so that was all I saw. Basically the part I saw was a remake of Predator. There were some nice homages to the game though...

There were some nice homages to the game though... oh man that sucks, the first half the of the movie has little action... i would almost reccomend seeing it again just for the first person perspective part but you might be pissed if you finish the movie...

My own fault.. I should have looked at the reviews before I took an 10 year old to see an "R" rated movie. He's seen The Matrix so I figured he'd be Ok. Once he saw Dr Carmack and the "hand" that was it for him... He was in the bathroom when it started so he missed the initial "hand scene"...

Best videogame movie yet. But thats not really saying much. I was entertained, the FPS section & BFG effects were great - the cheese factor was definately high & there were laughs to be had. Good showdown at the end too. No surprises they used the game developers names for scientists. You might feel a little ripped off if you have to pay full price for DOOM, which I didn't thankfully...so try to see it on a cheaper day. And its much better than the comic book version!

Can't complain, DOOM was a good movie in my opinion, seemed to have a bit of everything, even if the main focus was violence. The acting I thought was good, although I woulda expected more monsters, but that didn't really seem to bother me. I hope that Game to Film adaptations can get better, or at least good enough to make me forgot about DOOM.

I like the first-person shooter homage toward the end. If you were looking for Academy awards, not your movie. I'm an action guy, though. Good action sequences. The producers did really well in their selection of military advisers. Good tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP's).
It also gives me some thought. If you could bio-engineer a 24th chromosome that would enable people to have those abilities; i.e, super strength, endurance, super intelligence, the ability to heal almost instantly, would you? Or more importantly, should you? If there are markers for psychotic and violent behavior, would we be able to test for them? What about people who've suffered from any kind of trauma? It would seem that we would want to use C24 in soldiers. What happens if they are fine at first, but resort to going nuts later? PTSD makes people who were perfectly fine before do some pretty strange things. Hmmmmm........
