I'm not seeing it until tomorrow afternoon. The midnight showings here sold out in a matter of hours. Based on the quality of the first 2 movies I have no doubt it'll be as good as everyone says it is.

I'll be catching this in a few days when then the crowds subside. I've already waited 30 years...a few more days won't kill me...(hopefully) I used to have that mentality but life experiences have taught me otherwise. If there's something I truly want to do (especially when it comes to fun) I always take the "carpe diem" approach. Nothing stands in the way of my happiness.

I saw it Tuesday part of the 12 hours LOTR Trilogy Screening including FOTR: EE, TTT:EE and then ROTK. It is probably one of the best cinematic experiences of my life. The LOTR trilogy is the greatest film trilogy to date and probably the greatest work of cinema to grace us in 20 years. A few months ago I was praising Matrix, but after sitting back and watching all three no one holds a candle to this masterpiece of film. Not Star Wars (even the OT), not Godfather (remember 3?), not Matrix, not Back to the Future, not Indiana Jones. They're all fine trilogies (Star Wars Prequels excluded), but they just cannot compare to what Peter Jackson has accomplished.
Watching the film as a whole made me realize just how important the material is. I felt like I was reading Shakespeare and really understanding it for the first time. In fact I think its entirely appropiate to claim that Tolkien is as relevant to literature as Shakespeare was. Both include such a wealth of themes and morals in such epic and magnificent tales.
The experience of 500 fans all as enthusiastic you are is one I reccomend. One of the coolest things about it was that each film was a progression of how engrossed the audience was getting. I could tell that everyone had seen FOTR:EE, but for TTT:EE there were many who clearly were watching the Extended Cut for the first time. And when it was time for ROTK to start, the audience went wild. People cheered and clapped, booed and hisses. The entire theatre gasped at the same time at one point. I've only read about that happening, but to really feel part of such an audience was so invigorating.
ROTK is the best film I've seen this year and deserves all the top Oscar categories. Jackson deserves director and picture, Sean Astin and Andy Serkis derserve acting nominations. The Special FX are astounding (though the Seige on Zion from Revolutions was more technically impressive) and were full of emotional drama, the script was sharper then before andevery comic relief moment actually worked. I just don't know how to describe the film it was so perfect.
Granted there were some flaws, but most of them are nitpicking, a simple cringe at a weak effect (there were very few weak effects I should add) or that Viggo Morteson's acting skill seemed to drop just a tad in quality (i didn't feel his precense as much in the earlier ones).
Simply put, go see this film. Skip school, work, whatever. This is as important as Star Wars was when it came out. In fact its more important. The breakthrough CGI (Gollum is opening up a whole new medium of acting), the gorgeous visuals, the wonderful performances, the thought provoking and extremely well told story. Just everything about the film was so perfect. Its almost impossible to comprehend how Peter Jackson was able to pull this off. I say again one of the best films of the year. And perhaps even of our time.

I just got home from the theatre.... one word: AMAZING.
I for one, have not actually read the books [please don't kill me]... but.. after seeing the movies, I think I'm going to have to have a gander at the set of 3 books sitting on my shelf...
The effects were AMAZING... simply beautiful... and Legolas... how can I begin to express the awesomeness that was his fight scenes..
I have seen many movies [being that I work at a theatre].. and this one, just brought me to tears and then made me laugh.. I don't think I was ever this entertained in the longest time.. it was bloody amazing..
I really suggest you see this masterpiece.. and if this movie isn't nominated for the MAJOR oscars... there's going to be an uprising of elves, hobbits, orcs, and what have you [myself included]...

Ack, I was at Cineworld, in the Midlands...no Interval...what cinema did you go see it at Judas? Ambassadors in Woking...they put intervals in just about everything over three hours Pearl Harbour had one and so did the other LOTR movies. Still, it gave me time to top up my ice cream, so can't complain

And lo, he saw it. And lo, it blew the other two films out of the water and sent him into hyperventilating excitement. Absolutely brilliant. The acting, especially in the Frodo & Sam scenes are Oscar-worthy, the visual effects are superb and the battle scenes... well, let's just say that they're the most captivating and exciting action sequences ever to have been put to film. Personally, I felt that Viggo Mortensen took a back-seat in the film, despite the fact that he's meant to be the main character. Particularly, Sean Astin and Andy Serkis were excellent in all their scenes. And of course, Bernard Hill's mighty performance as King Theoden was perhaps better than in TTT! Simultaneously epic and intensely personal, this film is simply an awesome achievement. Go and see it - there is nothing like sharing the laughter, horror and elation with an entire audience of LotR fans who've waited a year to see the story drawn to a close! "Now for ruin, and the world's ending! And $8 billion gross on the first night!" And well deserved, too Deimos

Guys, you're just making me more and more excited about this movie. Sweet chaos, I just can't wait! Maybe I'll go see it this weekend, I don't know yet. I really enjoyed FOTR and I just can't express it's awesomeness. Then I saw TTT and, frankly, I was bit dissapointed with this movie. Still, TTT is good, but I didn't enjoy it so much as FOTR. I... just... can't... miss it - because: 1. I've got a huge sentiment for the books. 2. I've already seen the two previous parts 3. Mortensen / Aragorn...

You must see it! Now! Go now! To the cinema! Honestly though, it's brilliant. I'm going to see it again tomorrow for the third time (would have seen it more but life keeps getting in the way). Even the dull parts of the book have been brought to life and made exciting. You'll be kicking yourself if you don't see it on a cinema screen.... widescreen.... panoramic views..... *drool* Deimos

Note to self: Don't drink too much before seeing a 3 hour and 20 min. film.
O-M-G...I absolutely love the LoTR trilogy. When I saw RoTK, it was giving me goosebumps all the way...It was really breathtaking. It made me cry too *sniffle* I could not go to the washroom...I had to keep it in. Thank god I did. If you haven't seen it...Go see it...

The visuals... beautiful ( especially Minas Tirith ) The Dead City and Mordor in general - breathtaking in their evilness!! The battle scenes - OMG! The Apocalypse has come! Those of you who haven't seen it - go to the cinema now! You won't regret it!
