That's one of those things...I love Gundam...I love Wimmer's style but I don't know if I want him to do it. Here's why... 1. Animation to action films are usually not the best translation. We see the same with game to films. I'd hate to see Wimmer get trapped into something that may ruin his carrier. 2. There is too little "original" material being made today. I for one am getting a bit tired of adaptations & remakes. I think this is one reason I love both Equilibrium & Matrix while they both borrowed heavely from a vast supply of source material they brought new universes to the table. 3. Fan universes & obsessions...you can rarely as a filmmaker capture the universe of the original & there by alienate the fans. Brian Singer commented on this when making X-Men (though he did a fine job.) He stated to the effect that there are fans out there just waiting for you to screw up their favorite universe. Too many films get dumped on not because of the films that they are but because they changed the said "universe." That severely limits the filmmakers & their vision. I can still remember the internet uproar about Storm's wig. It really was silly & too many comic fanboys will never allow Joel Schmacher any chance on any film because of his Batman films. I admit they were not the best but EVERY filmmaker deserves an off day. Often they do not even know about his other films; Lost Boys, Flatliners, Falling Down, Tigerland... It really is unfortunate!! Just my hum. op.

Actually, Gundam is just an example. What I meant is whether he might make his *own* mecha movie, with his own take on the mecha genre, just like he did with vampires.
What do you think?

well....I'm a fan of giant robot films, so I'd love to see what he could do with somthing like the Armored Core or Heavy Gear franchises. I'm imagining huge machines as agile as humans doing all sorts of crazy ass stunts (both melee and ranged).
I like Wimmer's understanding of the action dynamic; I'd have an open mind to anything with his name on it, mecha or no.

Jen makes a great point as ussual. The idea of KW doing a new Mech like film is interesting, but remaking a comic/aimee/pre created is not such a great idea. Mainly for the reasons Jen pointed out. Also, KW is a really talented writer, let the man write! Im a little frustrated with the amount of re hashed / re do / 2000 / Re-Makes that are flooding the film industry. Lets do a remake of _________ and just call it _______ 2000. Lindsey Lohan with Adam Sandler!
I would like to see KW do anything that originated in his own mind.

Whatever happened to the rumours that Wimmer was up for Terminator 4?
Anywho anime adaptations are fairly useless, unless the director does something really interesting and different with the material (ala Casshern) then there's not much point. There was talk of a live action AKIRA once and I really can't understand the reasoning the film works fine as an animation, there's no need for live action.
I'm can't wait for another Wimmer project though, cause although I'm looking forward to Ultraviolet, its story really doesn't interest me. I really don't like the pseudo-vampire concept, but maybe its an idea that works better on celluloid then on paper.

Whatever happened to the rumours that Wimmer was up for Terminator 4? I think that anything relating to T4 would have to be put on hold due to the fact that Arnold wants to run again. It would be difficult to make that film without him.

I'd rather see the Wachowskis do mecha - seeing as they love Japanimation.
I'd kill to see their take on Robotech (for completely selfish reasons of course!).

It would be difficult to make that film without him. IMO T3 would of been better with out Arnold and the film starting at where it ended and primarily taking place during the future wars. Arnold was 'a terminator', his presence isn't really necessary for the continuation of the story beyond a glorified cameo any more. His character had an arch that ended in T2.

I personally understand that but I highly doubt the studio will agree. Arnold is their flag ship of the saga. I doubt they will even consider making it without him.
