Well, I like the story and I like Al Pacino. But the reason why I watched it because of its hunky blonde co-star Gabriel Macht. I had a crush on him since I watched Bad Company. (He played Zach in The Recruit) Hee hee he was cute!

You know Gabriel Macht? You're a fan of him too? Glad I'm not alone.

Personally, though I really like Colin Farrell (A LOT!!) I also thought that Bridget Moynahan was quite good. I'd really like to see her in more films. In fact she's one of the actresses I had picked for Kurt's UltraViolet.

I like Al Pacino ;D Usually I don't care too much for Collin Farrell, but he was good in this one. Good movie too.

Good storyline. Kurt Wimmer did a fine job here.

Good storyline. Kurt Wimmer did a fine job here. The problem is that the origianl script by Roger Towne and Kurt Wimmer (AKA The Farm) was rewritten by Mitch Glazer so it's uncertain which aspects were Wimmer's & which were later changes in the film. I've been trying to get my hands on an original version to compare the difference but have only stumbled upon the Glazer script.

Oh no!! Not at all & no worries. It's just common practice especially on film boards to give a "spoiler warning" first if you are going to give away some of the plot. That way people can choose to read it or not. (besides we wouldn't want to tick off Pyro again!! ) He's had several films ruined for him on these boards when I wasn't paying attention.

I actually enjoyed the Recruit and own it. I'm a bit behind the times here, but I just saw The Recruit last night. I thoroughly enjoyed this film, with its twists and turns. I was convinced Bridget Moynahan's character was the mole. She really is a good actress, IMO. Didn't see the end coming. Well done film, I thought. And the score was excellent...our very own Klaus Badelt! I'm so glad he is getting work. I find his scores to be very unique and stimulating.

<<<<spoiler>>>> _ _ _ - -_ at the end where pacino is talking to the CIA and he just spills his guts, why would a cia trainer break one one of his own rules? Hmmm...good question. And it all depended on him doing so, didn't it? My best guess would be that he simply cracked under the pressure of believing the game was up.

I was convinced Bridget Moynahan's character was the mole. She really is a good actress, IMO. She's damn good, even in I, Robot, she gave a credible performance for her role as Dr.Calvin.

I first noticed Bridget in "Sex and the City", and she did very well with the small role she had, but I'd no idea of her true caliber.

hm, I didn't particularly care for it.
[possible spoiler] It kinda twisted back and forth so I wasn't sure who was the bad guy, Al Pacino or the girl, but either way I didn't care. I also don't think Al Pacino's as good as he used to be.

I also don't think Al Pacino's as good as he used to be. I really think that it just depends on the roll because he certainly was more than just good in both Devil's Advocate & The Insider. I have to agree that Recruit was one of his weaker ones. The character really is not as dynamic or memorable as many others that he's portrayed.

I know these reviews are old but I would like to put my thoughts down in this page. I did see The Recruit I saw when I was still working in the theatre before the insult that they unleashed on EQ. Like I said I saw it and I liked it even though it was a very predictable story ( I knew pacino was the bad guy from a mile away because only he can do a villan character better than any actors on this film.) the movie was fun to watch. But I don't think this was the ultimate spy movie as one critic claimed. If there is a ultimate spy movie for me it would be hard to pick because these are my 5 choices.
1. SPARTAN (With Val Kilmer and William H. Macy) 2. SPY GAME 3. THE BOURNE SUPREMECY (I like this more than the first because it's darker and realistic.) 4. THE BOURNE IDENTITY (The hell with James Bond. Bourne is the future.) 5. MI:3 (Some may not like this but this is the best of the three.)
