Does everyone remember in the director's commentary when Kurt Wimmer is getting shot in the movie and he said directors always die in their movies? Well I was just watching a mini series on the USA channel that I own called Rose Red. Stephen King (the director) is the pizza boy in the movie delivering at the haunted mansion. I was just wondering if anyone has seen directors in their movies die or just have a small part. If you do remember some directors that are in their movies don't be afraid to list them down.

Guinevere Turner, the script writer/assistant director of American Psycho had a role in it and the character died.

I don't know about directors wanting to die in their films (except for Wimmer ) but some certainly seem to enjoy cameos. The following are few recent ones... M. Night Shyamalan - in all of his so far - Signs (guy in car), Unbreakable (guy at ballpark), Sixth Sense (doctor) Rob Cohen - The Fast & the Furious (pizza guy) Troy Duffy - Boondock Saints (overall guy in bar)

Steven King has had cameos in every single one of his movie/tv mini series remakes. I think it is a part of the deal that to make one of his novels into a movie/mini series, He has to have a small part. In a lot of the movies, he dies too.
Quentin Tarantino also is in all of his movies except Jackey Brown, and he dies in Desperado, From Dusk till Dawn (he was involved in writing these movies, not directing them) Also dies in Reservoir Dogs, but not in Pulp Fiction. Well, you can imagine if Pulp Fiction kept going he would have died. Anxious to see what he does with him self in 'Kill Bill.'

Prehaps the most famous Director cameo in his own film is Scorsese's bit part in the brilliant Taxi Driver. Its hardly a bit part however, more of a short monologue! He is the guy in back of De Nero's cab telling him that he caught his wife with another man and how he is going to take his magnum and blow her head off Has anyone heard of Kevin Smith aka Silent Bob? ;D

I also remember Steven Spielberg (but not which movie...a comedy if I'm not wrong) and, of course, Alfred Hichcock..... There are many other.... but I don't recall any of them at the moment.....

pyro - not sure what you mean, Kevin Smith directs films and acts in some of them as 'Silent Bob' (Mallrats, Jay and Silent Bob strike back, Dogma etc) so its slightly more than a cameo.

Anyone else agree that Dogma rules? Yep, it does and I thought that Matt and Ben weren`t the worst choices...But my favourites are Jay and Silent Bob and the Metatron anyway.

oooh, a fellow Resident Evil fan! ;D I can't wait for them to make the second one. (i hear that Mira Sorvino has been cast, along with a returning Jovovich, so things look good..) Not that i'm trying to derail this thread onto RE appreciation, or anything.
