I think I've found the movie where KW said "I'll give you a Coke if you can guess where I stole this shot from."
The movie is The Matrix: Reloaded.
I can't find a screen cap, but the shot is at the very end of the movie, where they're all on the Hammer sitting around a table discussing what went wrong with the ships defending Zion. Kurt Wimmer used the same method, only he pulled the camera out instead of "Andrea" and Larry who pulled the camera in.
If anyone can prove me wrong please do! Until then, Kurt owes me $.75 for the Coke I paid for ;D ;D ;D

I don't think that is possible for several reasons.
1. EQ was released to theaters a full 6 months before Reloaded hit the screens.
2. But the biggest problem would be the fact that EQ had finished filming before Reloaded even started. Kurt would not have seen that shot at the time of filming.
EQ's filming dates - Oct. 19, 2000 to Dec. 10, 2000
Reloaded's dates - March 2001 - 21 August 2002

Sorry, I hope it didn't bruise you too badly. At least I saved Wimmer from going bankrupt. ;D

... KW said "I'll give you a Coke if you can guess where I stole this shot from." Is that from the DVD commentary? (just wondering what I'm missing here).

Is that from the DVD commentary? (just wondering what I'm missing here). Yes...here it is... "I'll give you a coke if you can tell me where I stole this shot from. I can tell I'm gonna go bankrupt now from having to buy people cokes." - Kurt Wimmer, DVD Commentary, Chapter 16

Funny, I don't think he's had to give out a coke yet.. Even the hardcore fans can't figure it out

It's not anything like the last temptation of Christ is it? Because he goes on to talk about that scene *also* being like Judas and the other disciples at the Last Supper. I have not seen LTOC, so I can't be sure...

my guess is he got it from 'the rock'. the part where the general is calling to the white house saying if they dont give hime money he'll bomb them.

I know the scene/scenes you're referring to but I don't think that's the shot either...Hummel doesn't sit round a table as such with his men and he uses a radio phone...

I think it's more to do with the meaning as well as the framing of the shot. It's probably a very old film that he's hinting to.

I think you might be on to something there because what other movies has Wimmer stated that he took inspiration from... 1. Preston's white suit & black under suit - The Chinese Connection (1972) 2. Action - Saturday Night Fever (1977) & Judge Dredd (1995, ok so that one is newer) I know that he's mentioned some more...

As I replay that scene in my mind, I know the shot he speaks of. I have seen it before. The problem is, the film will not appear clearly in my mind. I think it's an 80's futuristic movie. Kinda like a Terminator film, but not...

I think Someone has already tried Alien... Will we ever know for sure? It'll probably become one of those things that'll go down in film history.
