Alright, while reading through alot of these topic's i've had alot of my questions answered, but there is one scene that still gets me.
Near the beginning when Preston goes to meet with Dupont in his office, Dupont asks him a series of questions.
One of them is "And how did you come to miss it?" In reference to Preston's wife being a sense offender.
Immediately John's head snaps to the side looking at the sweeper standing against the wall, and then he turns back to Dupont answering his question.
I just don't understand the significance of the whole looking at the sweeper, but it was evidently put there for a purpose.

I think it was probably a subconsious reaction by Preston to deal with his new-found emotions. It's this little quirk to the side that probably keyed Dupont that Preston was in fact "feeling". As Dupont points out in the end, he himself feels. I knew this when Dupont burst out in the second questioning session asking Preston "Are you playing with me, Cleric?" That little quirk there was probably what set the whole thing in motion.......

Actually this whole sequence, when cleric and dupont have this first meeting, was before Preston ceased his dose. But I see what you mean....so nevermind my arguement in this post.

That's right.............damn!! I really need to buy this movie. Then my inputs here might actually be accurate, in terms of movie scene chronology.

Well I was in the middle of watching it when I read your response and somethings actually made sense.
When John goes to the church to find Errol, Errol says "You always knew."
And the fact that he wasn't the one to charge his wife as a sense offender.
So it makes sense when Dupont said that he needed to find someone who could feel, who did feel, but just wasn't aware of it yet.

A lot is simply on reflection. It's amazing how much of an effect this movie has had on me. I haven't seen the movie in over a month , but my recollection of the scenes are as though I'm sitting and watching it. There are not many movies (and I've seen a lot) that I've saved space in the "attic" to remember so vividly.

Notice how in most scenes, all the dumb-ass sweepers actually surround him? Two things are gonna happen:
1. You're up against a Tetragrammaton Cleric, 1st Class, and you're gonna get shot in the face, cause he says so.... ;D
2. While you're waiting your turn to be killed, cause that's the only choice you have against Preston, you're probably going to ventilate your bunkmate across the way during the cross-fire.
Funny how Prozium seems to shut off some people's common sense. But even then, there are a few rebels that are that way, too and maybe need to be back on Prozium.

I like how the sweepers know about cleric abillities, but dont really know
examples:
1. The first scene Preston surfs the door into the room and takes out all the thugs, then his guns glow from the heat,(still my fav. thing to ever see in a movie) But teh BEST is when the sweepers come in after and look around the room, Then look at each other with a look in their eyes that says "WTF" Did that ONE guy just take out the whole room of bad guys??? W T F!?!?!
In the puppy dog scene, there is one sweeper, I think the sergeant who just starts yelling "SHOOT HIM SHOOT HIM" At least that guy knew that if you don’t shoot him right away, in less then 3 seconds you would be shot in the face(because Preston says so)
another great post btw Baltaak

W T F!?!?! Goes to show you that Prozium is not 100%. If they looked at each other in the "WTF just happened..!!" look, then some dampened level of fear must have surfaced momentarily... Thank you for the kind words on the post. I've only seen the movie twice ;D Can't wait to buy it, then the posts will fly...

everytime he looks at the sweepers, he is lining them up for an easy gun kata I thought this as well. Preston may think he could be in trouble for "An almost unforgivable lapse, Cleric" and be sizing them up in case he should need to flee.

I thought this as well. Preston may think he could be in trouble for "An almost unforgivable lapse, Cleric" and be sizing them up in case he should need to flee. or better yet, should he need to "shoot them in the face!" And because of Preston's training he is always prepared. Glad we all picked up on that. The first time you see it though, you almost feel like Preston is worried about the sweeper, but after he says "No not without incedent" you realise, he is not scared. Just ready.

I have the sound clip of the polygraph flat-lining and him giving my favorite quote in there.....
Hold on, I'm playing it now..... ;D Ahh, much better....
That's just badass where he evolves emotionally to shut off his emotions (courtesy of pep talk with Jurgen). I'd have to say that's one good thing about Prozium is near-lack of fear (sweepers were SCrrrrrddd...!!....hahahahaha)

I think it was just his reaction to the question. How did you come to miss?
Implication, he's implying something, so Preston's reaction is that of self preservation. Like what Dupont was talking about at the end, they needed someone who had the capacity to feel, even though they didnt know about it.
Possibly Dupont had other clerics in there, asking the same sort of questions, waiting for the right reaction.
The way the scene plays out, its like Preston is checking the sweeper, seeing if he was proceeding to attack, which would be an emotional response, the want to stay alive.
Maybe this is what Dupont was looking for.

everytime he looks at the sweepers, he is lining them up for an easy gun kata Agreed... I think part of the training, like any other, is to always be sizing up the competition... I really feal an animalistic sense in Preston, and later in Brandt. They are hunting prey (sense offenders) that they can just "feel", like an instinct. So, I think these sort of animal reactions, quickly moving your head like a cat when it sees movement, is perfectly normal for a cleric.

If nothing else, we are left with instinct as the single method of self-preservation and survival. Clerics are quite apt at this.

"Excellent. I have nothing to hide." Nice signature quote, Cleric Baltaak! Thanks, Trinity. I was watching EQ Saturday, and for me, that quote is right around a moment of clarity for Preston. So, I just had to add it ;D Apologize for having to sign in as a guest, but I have my password saved at work and don't have access to my work e-mail from home
