Anyone else looking forward to Leage of Extrordinary Gentlemen?
I've heard very mixed reviews about it, and i have to say i can easily see it going either way...
My main interest is, of course, Sean Connery, i like the look of his character and i thing the part will suit him very well... as i'm a big fan of his i'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
It seems to me that the premise of the movie is a rather delicate one, it could be great if handled properly, but it's not likely to be forgiving of mistakes.
As for the other characters, Stuart Townsend should be perfect for his role (even though i don't normally like him much) - lots of scope for angst-laden prettyness, and the like. The vampire looks very interesting indeed, and the rest, well, hard to say, but that submarine looks superb...

It looks cool, but all I've heard about it is the wars that went on behind camera. All the actors hated each other, and Sean Connery especially didn't get on with the director. Apparently there was more bitch-slapping off camera than on.

Apart from the premise looking ridiculous - how many different characters can they draw on? - it looks quite good for an evening of mindless entertainment (hey, that's what I go to the cinema for). So who's in it? I know that Sean Connery is meant to be the guy from King Solomon's Mines and there's also Jekyll/Hyde, Captain Nemo and some vampire woman. What other characters have they nicked from books in the name of money-making cinema? Deimos

Its actually a comic book series, so they didn't steal them just for the film but there is the Invisible man as well as the ones you mentioned, thats all the ones I can remember.

I saw this one a few months ago & I don't think that I can really recommend it even though I did enjoy it. It really is a throw back type of film to those old action adventure flicks like Jason & the Argonauts & The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad. Its silly & way out there. If you liked these (which I do) LXG just might be something you'll want to catch. If you have an anal problem with logic though skip it.

Update: The other guy I was thinking of was Dorian Gray. Kind of odd, anyone who's read the comic or seen the film care to tell me how that works? In case you didn't know, Dorian Gray is an Oscar Wilde character who is immortal - but all his misdeeds and ageing appears on a portrait of him. Unless he carts the painting around with him he'll be a pretty meaningless character... Apart from being immortal of course Deimos

Dorian Grey was actually my favorite character followed by Captain Nemo and Dracula's wife.

Sad to say I was a bit dissappointed by the adaptation, or lack thereof. Dorian Gray is one surprise, as well as Tom Sawyer (ugh). And the fact that Mina is exposed as what she is, which she never really "comes out" in the comic. I'm most dissapointed with the villian, as well as Quartermain, who could have been so much MORE if they wouldn't have been hollywood-ized. Don't expect much other than a Happy-go-lucky steampunk romp, and check your brain at the door...
