Everyone is mentioning their orders have not yet come. Why do you people not simply download the movie online?

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Almost everyone here has their copies unless they live outside US or Canada and many of them already have the download but no download can compare with DVD quality.

Oh, never mind...I understand now...someone resurrected an old thread. Most people in R1 who want the film now have it. That thread was started back in on May 2nd.
Sorry about that.

That is an excellent way to waste money though. If you use ed2k programs (Bearshare, edonkey2000, emule) and use ed2k links from websites, you will find excellent quality films. I've never downloaded a film I could not watch full screen. (And I've downloaded practically a terabyte)

I see. It is much easier to download films though.

I personally do not download extra features though yes, people do rip the extra features as well.

Most people I know dont have T3 lines and have to pay for their internet use. Thus, it is far easier and cheaper to just go and buy the thing when it comes out rather than spending a week and a half downloading a DivX file. Who wants to watch movies on their 17" computer screen anyway?

I do download films but only to find out if they are any good to either see at the big screen later (I live in Europe & have to wait much longer than the American's for everything) &/or if it's worth bying on DVD. When I find that out &/or have bought the film, I remove the film from the computer. I never keep them.
I actually have EQ on my computer right now, but as soon as it gets August 20th & I get my film on DVD, it's removed from my comp.
It's hard to find a good quality film to download. That is only if you're lucky. Then it of course takes time. I have cable yet it takes time usually.

No download can compare with DVD quality? Where do you download from? EQ takes up almost 5.3 gig for the movie alone, and that does not include 2 audio commentaries and other supplements. Sure you can compress it down to 700 mb for reasonable dl, but it will not be equal with the DVD in terms of video and audio quality. It may be watchable on your 17-21 inch computer monitors, or burned to a DVD/CD for viewing on a small tv, but it will not hold up to a BIG tv or nice front projection setup. Try blowing up that compressed file to 106 inches...(the size I ran on my last two projectors)it'll look like ass. Maybe down the road as the codecs continue to improve it will be better, but by then we will be watching High-Definition which will require much more space. Ive got Raiders of the Lost Ark in HD w/ 5.1, and it takes up almost 16 gig. I'd rather get out of the house and buy it then struggle with that download. Rob

I'm actually watching my borrowed burned EQ DVD on a 42" plasma TV & the quality is just like the brilliance of a real DVD! I have no idea how much space the burned disc uptains but it must be a very good copy my brother (whom I've borrowed the film from) has obtained to create such a great vision on such a big tely. You could never have guessed it was a burned copy instead for the real thing you buy.
But I will not borrow my brother's copy forever. Once the film comes to my country I will obtain it. I already have it ordered. The burned disc I have has no extra material, even if the menues for them are there. And I'm longing to see & listen to it! So, you CAN find the most excellent copies out there if you are lucky & know ehere to look. But it still never beats the real discs with extra goodies & real covers etc. I can go by with a copy for the moment but I certainly prefer the original if ever possible.
BTW, watching any film, including EQ on that 42" TV set is like almost having the actors in your lap! They basically are in realistic size on the screen. And EQ, in DVD quality, surely has found it's place on a big TV screen!

You could never have guessed it was a burned copy instead for the real thing you buy. Where was the copy obtained? Downloaded MPEG/AVI file, or did someone just Rip the DVD and burn it to another? My point being small easily downloadable files will not have all the detail of the original source because of the compression. A 42" is pretty much the smallest widescreen tv availiable, and detail may "appear" to be equal, but larger screens will show the lacking details. I'm rather picky and prefer the best possible quality. Oh, and it's legal. Rob
