A call to all you poets: I need your help!
There's this girl I work with, who I've fancied pretty much since the first time I saw her, and I plan on sending her a card this February 14th, Valentine's Day. She knows how much I like her, and I even sent her one of my own poems a couple of months ago. (A mistake, I can see with the benefit of hindsight. She liked it, but it didn't have the intended effect.) I was on the brink of consummating my seduction when I totally, abysmally ruined it in one evening of drunken impulsivity . (Nothing too insulting, but I sent her some pretty nasty text messages, narrowly escaping a pummeling from her father in the process!). This was a few weeks ago, and she's only recently deigned to start talking to me again, partly thanks to my charm, but more because she is, despite her age and appearance (she's only 17, I'm 22), a sensitive girl, which was one of the things that attracted me to her.
Anyway, I'm smart enough to realise that the odds of reigniting her desire for me are very, very unpromising at this point. Moreover, I want to get over this girl once and for all, because though I do like her a lot, I don't want to waste my time chasing after her anymore. (I'm currently formulating a plan to seduce one of her best friends, but that's another story.)
So what I plan to do is, use Valentine's Day as an excuse to move on and forget about this girl. That's quite an unusual day to choose, I know, but it makes sense to me in some twisted way.
I want to send her a card with a poem telling her how I feel about her. I want to write a poem about unrequited love, but I don't want it to be too soppy. Only problem is, my poetry is below mediocre (if you don't believe me, just ask me to put up that other poem I sent her.) So if there's anyone here who would like to help me, I would be extremely grateful. Ideally, I'm hoping someone can write the poem for me! That's contemptibly lazy, I realise, but I thought I'd ask. Otherwise, I'll write the poem myself and take any feedback.
I know it's unreasonable to ask you to write a poem on my behalf, but I'm kind of stuck here. Anything will do, just a few stanzas or whatever. So please help! The girl's name is Jade, and I think it would be a good idea to somehow use that in the poem, maybe something about Jade being a precious stone, etc.
