Movies have mistakes, inconsistencies, props showing, ect. ect. It happens, its unavoidable. And whats more fun than exploiting them?
I have watched the end scene of equilbrium many many times, mainly because I animated it and had to observe the footage very closely to draw each freakin frame. And that obviously comes with noticing all the mistakes.
So, Librians, I give you a list of all the mistakes in Hall of Mirrors and Dupont's Office. Well, not ALL, just the major ones. See how many you honestly (scouts honor, seriously dont be lame) noticed before reading here or possibly somewhere else. Add your score.
As the list progresses, the mistakes will be harder and harder to spot. The further down the list you noticed, the more of a fanatic you are. If you'd like, stop reading this right now, watch the end scene (The 'Not Without Incident' chapter) and keep a sharp eye before reading this list.
The very last mistake (the link posted here) is merely a screen shot, but within that picture is a mistake in it of itself. If you notice the mistake in the picture, you are an Equilibrium God!
Lets begin
1. In the sword fight, there are close-up shots of preston cutting open the guards, yet when the camera cuts to wider shots, there are no marks on their uniform at all. (pre-school question right?)
2. When preston throws his magazines at the beginning of hall of mirrors at the two guards, there is a close-up shot of the magazines rolling to a stop at the sweeper's feet. In that shot, you can see the wires connected to the magazines.
3. After all the guards have begun picking up their guns, theres a low angle shot of preston winding up into a stance. in that shot, there are no bullet holes behind him, but there were in previous shots.
4. In hall of mirrors, there are closeups of preston firing his guns with the weighted magazines loaded inside of them (the ones he threw into the hallway at the start) before hes even reloaded with them.
5. Preston disarms dupont, but in the next shot (the one where dupont says 'wait!') preston is no longer holding duponts gun. Yet in the final shot (birds eye view of everyone dead around the tetagrammaton) preston is once again holding duponts gun.
6. When dupont reaches down to grab his gun, not only is the gun facing a different direction, but the desk is now empty.
7. Near the end of the swordfight when there are only 2 guards left, preston punches one of the guards, then goes to block the other's oncoming attack with his hilt while the guard he just punched is stunned. The oncoming attack, however, is coming from the same guard he just punched.
8.Preston disarms dupont. In the low angle shot: the one that quickly sweeps over to preston and ends with dupont saying 'wait!', and theres that cool 'whoosh' sound: Look closely. Dupont is still holding his gun.
9. Preston ducks to avoid brandt's attack then goes to grab a sword sticking out of a guard. However, the sword he grabs is cut in half. (in other words it was a prop sword, only half of a sword to make it look like the end of it was 'inside' of the dead guard.)
10. Look at this picture and tell me whats wrong. If you can: bravo.

1-2: Ya, you've seen the movie. Want a cookie? Yeesh. Put on a helmet and black jacket, cuz all your good for is guard duty.
3-4: I'm like you, cleric, intuative. Sometimes I spot mistakes before the director does himself. *huff. Take a notepad, your a trainee cleric.
5-7: What, are you trying to become a cleric yourself? Well if you got this many right, you just might be. Put on a grey uniform.
8-9: Take off the grey uniform and slap on a black one, your a first class cleric pal. Go to Iraq and show our boys how its done.
10: Take off the black uniform and slap on a suit and a tie, you've just been promoted to Father. Good luck with directing Equilibrium 2.
