It was already pretty unbelievable that Preston made it thru Hall of Mirrors without a scratch from all 54 sweepers, but could he have made it thru had it be lined up with clerics?
Granted - They'd be the lowest class of cleric (you know, grey uniform - let's say Brandt's skill level)
Perhaps he'd have to use the pillars as cover (altho you NEVER see a cleric take cover) perhaps he'd take a couple of non-fatal hits (again you NEVER see a cleric bleed, unless of course he needs some blood to rub on a TV screen)
Interested on what your thoughts and input are.

In the director commentary on the DVD, Kurt Wimmer said he just didn't like to his heros bleed; it was Bale's suggestion that Preston have a wound (having similar thoughts to yours) after all that fighting.

I want people to consider this question >=P and yes I too watched the commentary and know that the blood was Bale's idea and I like your signature Vespertilio. I've never really thought about it, but Batman has always been my favorite super hero, and John Preston is definitley my favorite action hero. Bale rules

Truth be told, to the lexicon of the Clerics- one would suspect that if Father were to have had a select group of Clerics in his atrium [Hall of Mirrors] most likely it would have been field seasoned Clerics that had past their prime but maintained their ability...
The use of the Gun Kata- a primary "offensively defensive" manuever/tactic couldn't be played out in The Hall because every last man would jump into the middle of the room and begin blasting.
One thing I always respected about the concept of The Gun Kata as both thematical and as "practical" was the concept of a lone gunman descending into the middle of a "group mentality". The only defense required of a one man army is SELF defense- he need watch out for no one but himself- as long as he can control his aim and accuracy, he simply has to shoot- everyone else has to consider angle of attack, crossfire and line-of-site. In effect the group may have the advantage of munitions and firepower but their very collective negates their potential.
Would Preston had to jump to cover? Most likely. But he would have lost the element of surprise and he would have been in a protracted battle that might have led to reenforcements- something he couls ill afford at that moment in the resistance!
