With the holidays approaching, everyone knows one or two recipes for something outrageously high-calorie and scrummy ... just plain Sense-Offence. Here's my first contribution ...
Deep-Fried Butter!!
You may have thought you'd heard it all when people started frying Snickers bars and Twinkies and serving them up at state fairs. Well, never underestimate Texas, the place where everything is bigger—including the list of things that they will willingly put into a fryer. In 2009, the State Fair of Texas introduced deep-fried butter to the list of insane-but-true fair foods (much to the horror of cardiologists everywhere). Creator Abel Gonzales Jr. said he was inspired by a craving for buttered toast. And what more logical way to address that than to take frozen golf-ball-size scoops of pure whipped butter, cover them in dough and pop them into the deep fryer? Oh, and since it's always good to have options for your arteries' last big hurrah, you can get your deep-fried butter in four varieties: original, garlic, cherry and grape.
