Thanks and welcome, invisiblescientist!!
Good ideas! Your initial suggestion painted in my mind the picture of a forbidden stage play going on, guarded by armed SO's, and an assault on the clandestine theatre.
Dupont as an unapologetic Sense-Offender and more or less blatant hypocrite, having an opulent palace, etc., is interesting, too. But here I have to express my own thought that it might be even more interesting to keep him low-key.
Remember that the essence of drama is conflict, and conflict can not only mean blazing guns but also blazing souls. To my mind Dupont is more interesting if he's torn inside ... he really wants to uphold Father's ideals, Prozium, etc ... but there is a secret Sense-Offender hidden within him that has whispered to his Cleric-side: You don't NEED Prozium; you have transcended Sense-Offence! And after all, someone must know what Sense-Offence really IS in order to enforce the law. YOU must be the one to make that sacrifice ... rather in the vein of an evilly-twisted Buddha-nature telling a holy person, "You don't need to enter nirvana ... your place is to return to Earth and there liberate more souls." So in this way he becomes tormented by conscience. This makes him a person of two minds, which explains why he fails to win in his conflict against the singly-minded Preston. A person who concentrates on ONE thing only, will--in the arena of his specialty--almost always win against someone of a divided mind, because he has total focus.
And remember, too, that most evil is done not by open villains who dare the world, but by people who are sincerely convinced that they are doing the right thing; it just so happens that they aren't.
I really doubt that Mr Wimmer will revisit this, but I have visions of an anime version perhaps, or something similar.
