Haven't been here in ages, but saw this bit of Bale news and well it was a bit surprising... if not a bit disillusioning. He was such a nice Bruce Wayne... Anyway thought I'd post it. twitchfilm.net/site/view/christian-bale-pitches-a-fit/#commentsTotally understand that Bale has been through tough times, but this is pretty dickish of him. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't drag on his tirade so long.

Oh well. That's why I never read celebrity gossip. If I only watched movies with actors I like personally, that would pretty much eliminate most modern films.
The trashing of Bale's skills as an actor that follows that column is uncalled for. Reminds me of what was done to Alec Baldwin some months ago. We build up celebrities to such heights we forget most of them are flawed human beings. Just enjoy the good acting, people. There's little enough of that to be found.

Sounds more like someone's getting some petty revenge by releasing the rant to the public, the story is ancient history at this point. Anyway, according to this link www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/christian-bale-being-a-prick-to-a-dp/ Bale and the DP made up; ...The audio's release may have been an act of revenge: celebrity gossip website TMZ claims that "film execs sent the tape to the insurance company that insured the film in case Bale bailed." This rant took place just days before Christian was questioned by London police about an alleged fracas with his family around the time that The Dark Knight was released. I talked today to a source close to Bale who told me, "Christian and the DP are all good now. It happened. It was one isolated event. He regrets that he lost his temper." I didn't listen to the audio, though it does seem from other people's comments on it that it went on longer than it should have (also people commented that the director should have stepped in and put a stop to it if it was really that upsetting). It wasn't like he was throwing a phone at someone, or screaming that he had the wrong brand of bottled water in his trailer, or hurling boiling coffee at a Starbucks employee; so without knowing the full context of the incident I'll file it under "meh, whatever".

I don't really care when the rant was or what was going on in his life at the time. This isn't the first time he has gone off on people. It is pretty common knowledge by most people that he is kinda ...touchy. I am SEVERELY dissappointed in him. This seriously diminishes my esteem of him. I have been a fan ever since the beginning of his career and own all of his movies except one that I can't find. So I am no fly by nite fair weather fan. I can see getting mad and maybe saying something you might regret later but to go on and on for 3 minutes? That is excessive and I would start thinking anger management therapy. And while I am glad he apologized and worked it out witht he guy, it still doesn't excuse the initial action. Bad form Christian. Very bad form.

I can't get this link for some reason. I liked the one with Barbara Streisand spliced in. Very funny.
Not excusing anything, but I'm sure plenty of celebrities do this all the time. He was just caught on tape. I hope it doesn't ruin his career, the way the couch-jumping thing did for Cruise. American public can be pretty unforgiving sometimes. But really come on, with all the other crap celebrities do, everyone is acting like this is the worst thing in the world.

Yep...quite hysterical, the rant and the rap! I lost count of how many Fwords he used but it was quite impressive - AND he kept his American accent. I tend to lapse into broad Mancunian when I'm having a rant.

Finally listened in ... interesting to hear, his accent was American in good part, but I heard a Welsh underlayment drifting in and out, especially from "Am I gonna rip your @% lights down" to "Stay off the @% set man." He's known for being touchy, and if he's to be taken at his word this was the second time "Shane" had done this. That doesn't excuse it though ... but at the same time I don't think any less of him. At least he wasn't taking out his temper on a humble gaffer or rigger or wardrobe person--abusing 'the help,' as it were--but one of the higher-status people. Someone near his own class, as it were.
And you have to think, too, the way movies are going ... everthing CGI now, it seems that actors and sets are on the way to becoming superfluous. He might have rightly or wrongly picked up a sort of presumptuousness there.
Everyone has a temper ... everyone gets angry. I know very few people who don't go off like that once in a while--and the ones I know that in fact never go off like that are seriously creepy. They don't scream at you, they take their revenge much more insidiously. I'd rather work with someone who throws a fit and then sincerly apologises later, which this sounds like.

He's apologized to the public at large now... www.hollyscoop.com/christian-bale/christian-bale-apologizes-for-on-set-tirade_19229.aspxChristian Bale Apologizes For On-Set Tirade February 06, 2009 by: Bridget Daly
Maybe Christian Bale isn’t a complete a**hole after all! He called into the famous Kevin and Bean show this morning on LA radio station KROQ, and offered an apology for his tirade from earlier in the week.
Christian called in and gave an unexpected apology to the public, who doesn’t think too fondly of him at this point. He started things off by saying, “I was out of order beyond belief. I was way out of order. I acted like a punk. I regret that. And there is nobody that has heard that tape that is hit harder by it than me. I make no excuses for it. It is inexcusable.”
Christian continues, “One thing that has really disturbed me throughout this is I’m not familiar or comfortable with this notion of being a movie star. I’m an actor and I’m don’t quite know how to handle [the movie star thing].
"The thing that disturbs me so much is that I’ve heard a lot of people saying that I seem to think I’m better than anybody else. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I’m a lucky SOB. I never forget that and that is why I put so much into what I do and I care so much about it . Sometimes that enthusiasm just goes awry.”
Well! We weren’t expecting that! You can’t really continue to be mad at the guy when he makes a statement like that.
In addition to the apology, Kevin and Bean also brought to attention the fact that it seemed unfair that the audio tape of Bale screaming even made it to the public.
Even though Bale agreed that there should be an element of confidentiality on set, he still said he wanted to make no excuses for his behavior.
He added, “I am embarrassed by it and I regret it. And I ask everybody to sit down and ask themselves, ‘Have they ever had a bad day and have they ever lost their temper and really regretted it immensely?’”
