Looks like the remakes are coming around and it looks like they are screwing them up royally.
Death Race. A remake of Death Race 2000 where drivers run over pedestrians for points. One small problem with the remake, they took out the part about running over pedestrians for points. WTF?
The Day The Earth Stood Still Kudos to Keanau for finding a role that is perfect for his non acting acting, but the original stands up just fine and did we really need to see this classic "updated"? The original is one of my favorites but from the preview I saw it looks like they are making this into a special effects blockbuster invasion flick. Stupid.
I'm sure there are more coming but I saw trailers for these two with the just plain awful Hancock.

Quarantine
A remake of the recent spanish movie "Rec".... the RECENT spanish movie.... I wonder... is that so hard to read subtitles??? The original is amazing and scary, this one is going to be like the "the rings" and "dark waters" of the world: not very scarry, not very interesting and of course politically correct....

You'd be surprised. I have a friend lives in Nashville, tried to rent a copy of "Pan's Labyrinth" and couldn't find one anywhere. When he finally asked a clerk in the store he was told "well, it's subtitled so we don't carry it". He said the clerk actually seemed surprised that someone would want to watch a movie with subtitles. People are idiots.

And I'll translate my future films into English by the excellent German "dubbing" studios, because most people are just to lazy to read subtitles. So otherwise my films would be completely ignored in the English speaking countries. Probably they would be more successful in the translated version. I'll try it, if I'll ever get the chance. ;D

If there are any remakes that hollywood is destroying it would be Asian horror and Action films. the only good remakes that has been done well is Infernal Affairs for those who don't know it's now known as The departed and the Ring the first part at least. and there are classic films that I am not happy that they are remaking and that is The Warriors, Old Boy, A Tale of Two sisters and rumor has it that Robo Cop is to be remade as well. Hollywood YOU SUCK!!

Hollywood YOU SUCK!! Yeah I agree, Asian films get it the worst. Why remake Old Boy, it will never be better than the Korean version, and they'll have to ease up on the violence... The Warriors? RoboCop? Gimme a break, it's not like those films don't hold up. I was looking forward to the Death Race remake but I was thinking they were going to actually modernize it and improve it. Now it's just another action flick without the black humor. I had hopes for a couple others too, Clash Of The Titans and Westworld could benefit from good remakes but judging by the crap they have been spewing out, they'll probably ruin those too.
