Ok, this is an "educated-guesswork" thread. In other words, based on your knowledge of Kurt Wimmer from DVD commentery's interviews and previous films, what sort of things/themes do you think we'll be seeing in UltraViolet? If possable, try to include a reason for your predictions. Maybe when the film finally graces our screen we can get JenGe to hand out Virtual Cokes for those who got anything right.
I'll start:
Prediction no 1:
If there is a final fight between Mila and the bad guy, it will be short but very complex.
Reason:
Kurt has expressed in the EQ commentery how he dislikes climactic fights that go on and on, with the good guy getting pounded before finaly turning it around. He claims that, for him, there no tension there because we all know the fights going to turn in the end.
"I like my heros to just whip ass, and that's that."
So if there is a climactic face off, it'll be short but original, as he states in the EQ commentery that he didn't want to do action unless he could bring something new to it. With Gun-kata and the Preston Vs Dupoint match, he showed us what he ment.
Prediction No 2: The film's style and tone will be much lighter than that of EQ.
Reason:
Kurt obviously likes to create entire worlds, and the world of EQ is a metephor for numbness, according to Kurt's DVD commentery. Whilst the film does contain some humour, it is mostly a serious and dark affair because of the nature of the world it's set in. However, the picutres we have seen of Violet and co point to a much more vibrant and colour rich costume design, and a world that generates those costumes is obviously not as dark as Libria. There is also the fact that, when interviewd, Kurt appears to have a very good sense of humour and even managed to work some decent belly laughes into the dark and serious EQ. (Tell me you didn't gwauf when Preston picked up the puppy after slaughtering the sweepers). I suspect UltraViolet will have a lot more humour than would have been appropreate in the Prozium-bound world of EQ.
Prediction no 3:
There will be little or no CGI or slow-mo in the action sequences.
Reason:
Kurt has stated in interviews that he's not a huge fan of CGI stuntmen or Wire-Fu, and that he felt no need to go overboard on slow as countless other directors have done that (Woo, PeckinPah, etc). Also, in the wake of criticism of EQ's fight similarity to the Matrix (however unfounded it is) Kurt will want to move even further away from anything that could be considered bullet-time or gravety defying Kung-Fu, instead stamping his own trademark of whiplash fast but physically possible action even further onto the cinematic scene.
Anyone else think of any predictions?
