Hey thanks for the info but I'm still not 100% sure if it is a rumor or a fact...

For myself, I assume that until a definite release date is given by the studio, with month and day and year, it's all rumor...

even though the Weinstein brothers are evil [watch the documentary overnight] they seem to mean business with releases from there new company. right now, i blame miramax for being the most stupid and unpredicatble, we'll just have to see Overnight is a very interesting documentary, but I wouldn't say it makes the Weinstein Brothers look bad, rather it villainizes Troy Duffy the director of Boondock Sants. I wasn't a fan of the film intially, but after watching that doc I realized how horribly tastless, offensive and crappy the film really is. Duffy is an egotistical, racist, homophobic, backstabbing maniac. Its extraordinary what opportunities were given him and how he ultimately alienated all his friends and even his family. I've got friends who liked the film, but watching this documentary changed their impressions of it. A lot of the racist and homophobic jokes that seemed ironic or a commentary of society are really what Duffy believes. I guess the directors beliefs shouldn't effect a film too profoundedly (look at Triumph of the Will and The Birth of a Nation), but...i'm highjacking the thread so i'll stop there. As for a the Weinsteins. Well you don't need a doc. to tell you they are bad news. Practically every thing that gets written about them makes them look bad. Also if I've heard correctly the W. Bros have left Miramax to start a new company. Their presence was one of the reasons films got sat on - their was a clause allowing them to get more money for a film the longer it was shelved. I do not know the specifics. UV's being made by Sony though. So it shouldn't have the Miramax/Dimension-like problems its appearing to have.

Comingsoon.net lists UV with a February 24, 2006 release date... does this mean we'll get a trailer soon?

Twitch film now says: Kurt Wimmer's Ultraviolet was earlier (see previous Twitch Article) thought to be getting a March 2006 release date. Sony is now saying it will be Febuary 3, 2006 on its Screen Gems Label.

yes twitch got it from here: www.bloody-disgusting.com/index.php?Show=5419&Template=newsfullit's even earlier so let's see, the earliest most probable movie that UV trailer could be attached with is Munich, which opens on the 23rd, Trailers are usually released online earlier than that, Sony has a tendency to release trailer very early(Underworld:Revolution) so if Kurt got the words this week like us, and assuming he didnt have a trailer cut out already(cause we'd have seen it already, we all know how much he likes us), he's now cutting a trailer, we should be able to see it within 5-7days if the trailer doesnt happen before new year, there are a few movies that are coming in January which UV trailer could be attached with. on Imdb a guy said he called sony and confirmed the February release, bloody-disgusting and comingsoon both reported a February release, i'm 60% certain this is really it but if the trailer doesnt happen before new year and UV is indeed coming out in Feb, i feel that Kurt has been cheated by the studio again, UV has only less than 2 months' promotion time, with virtually no media hype what-so-ever(UnderWorld Revo has a Jan.20 release date with trailer relased in Oct. not to mention media coverage, posters already in theatres), think about it, unless they start promothing it like crazy now, this situation looks just like EQ's release, and we all know what happens next... limited release in selected theatres... sigh....i hope this doesnt happen....fingers crossed and pray

I think I'll wait until there is something more firm to change the UV page or to mention it on the site...

... im soo hoping this movie blows us away... I hate to put a damper on this but I honestly cannot think of too many PG-13 that have blown me away and certainly not ones that were filmed as an R and then edited to a PG-13...In fact, I can't even think of ONE of those. At this point I just hope it does well. I have all but given up on the notion of being "blown away."

Kurt must have felt the heat on this project, and must also feel his career needs a big money maker at the box office, those might be part of the reason he has gone down to the PG13 rating. I think that if this film does well, he will get a lot of studio attention and hopfully be able to go back to the cutting edge for his next project. I can respect that, if he was to have another box office flop like EQ was, his career would take a huge set back, and we could not write enough fan mail to bring it back. So, like Jen said, lets hope he makes some cash with this one, so that studios will see him as a viable option for future projects.
