Yvonne Navarro, the author of the novelization has made some very interesting comments on the IMDb boards...

I'm thinking that anybody who read that stupid script review at FilmJerk should read the excerpt-the retarded critic quoted stuff out of context.
The authorities discourage the term 'Vampire' because the term 'Hemophage' is more scientific, allowing them to avoid any criticism about the 'quarantine measures' being a 'witchhunt'. However, it's a witchhunt no matter what they say! Any evidence of infection leads to summary execution! A detective unknowingly cuts his finger on a dead Hemophage's tooth, and the instant his partner notices it he draws his weapon and drills him between the eyes. I'm thinking that the movie's plot is slightly inspired by Margaret Thatcher's plans for AIDS concentration camps.
The "Flat-space" technology isn't a blank check, it's more like a RPG gamer's Bag of Holding-you've got to stick something in there to get something out. And those scabbards sound cool-yank a katana out of your pocket!
And really, did you care where Hans Gruber grew up, or did you just enjoy his sarcastic wit and the look on his face when McClane dropped him out the 42nd story window?

I preordered this book at amazon.com and didn't expect to see it until later this week or next. I was very surprised to find it in my mailbox yesterday.
