After reading the production notes and seeing that the movie Gloria was the inspiration for UltraViolet I decided to go to the local video shop and see if they had it for rent. Well lucky enough they did so i picked it up and just finished watching it. I can definately see the similarities in terms of the overall plot of the film. Basically Gloria is a friend of a puerto rican family. The father of this family is a bookkeeper for the mob and he basically he rats out the mob to the FBI. The mob finds out and kills his whole family but not before Gloria makes off with the familys 6 year old son who is in possession of the mob financial records. Gloria is a hard ass who basically has a general disate for children. At first she is annoyed by the kid but over time she grows to care deeply for him. A few similar scenes with UltraViolet has Gloria and Phil (the kid) visting a cemetary, riding the subway where Gloria gets angry and tells Phil to listen to her, and both of them splitting up and Gloria regretting the decision and running back to find him. A cool movie and definately worth watching. www.imdb.com/title/tt0080798/

Hmmm, not so sure they should have done this though. Had Wimmer done a story line which was independent of Gloria, I think the movie would have worked much better. It just seemed to me that Violet was sort of dragging Six aroudn with her a little bit... Don't get me wrong I love UV... I might give Gloria a look!
Thanks

In Gloria she pretty much just drags the kid around as well. If the studio was targeting young males they certainly would find little interest it that. I highly doubt Gloria would fair well today. I enjoyed UltraViolet but then I'm far from a "young male."
