Cool! I've stamped my email address right down there!
How do we mention the desire for a DC edition? Just in the review or is there a Vote/poll option?

Actually, I'm just hoping they'll get the message. If everyone who bought copies of Equilibrium puts their name in, it should prove to those jerks that there's money to be made.

I don`t see a director`s cut happeneing at all especially with all the bad blood between Wimmer and the studio. Also it would cost money to create a DC which obviously the studio isn`t willing to spend.
What I do see happening is an R-rated or unrated cut of the film. All they would have to do is include the the full fight scenes which wouldn`t take much work or money. Also by doing this the studio would hope more people would pick it up as it`s been getting such bad reviews all around. The DVD market is all about unrated cuts.
With what has happened I don`t see Wimmer being involved at all with the making of the DVD.

unfortunately, I agree with you Cgenro. Wimmer wouldn't want to touch the DVD if there was bad blood with the studio.
Hopefully Wimmer will bounce back from this.

if there isn`t a DC DVD then the best we can hope for are the cut scenes to end up on the DVD as deleted scenes. I`ll be happy either way.

Whilst Kurt might not come back to re-cut anything, I assume his previous cut (the R-rated one he was happy with) must still exist somewhere. Is there a chance the studio might simply dust it off and put that out?

I'm just guessing by the number of views on this topic, but it looks to be only about a hundred. Could more people please click on the link and put in their email addresses? At the very least those jerks at Screen Gems might release an R-rated cut, if only to grab a bigger cut of the DVD market. And who knows? It might even be completely uncut! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005JOWH/104-0337271-0367959?v=glance&n=130No risk, no obligation to buy, let's just tell them that we want it!

I`ve asked everyone I know to put their email in even if they don`t care about the film! We need a decent DVD release but I fear we may just get a barebones one.

I believe they'd have put out a barebones in the hope of making a quick buck even if nobody has sent an address. Blank DVD-Rs are less than a buck apiece and they already have the movie. Maybe if we all make a big fuss and wave money at them they'll stuff all the meat back in and make a mint off of the DVD sales. Equilibrium had no real box office play either-all of this is over the DVD. We did it once, we can do it again!

I had to dig through the Sony site to find it, but here it is-- e-mail them directly!
WebSiteTech@sonypictures.com
Remember, BE POLITE!!!! Abusive e-mail will either just be deleted unread or filed under threatening correspondance and turned over to the police/security. Either way, it won't help.

Wimmer wants a directors cut, bad blood or not. The dude put 3 years of his life into a project that came out wrong. The question is will the studio give him a chance to do it? Probably not, but I hope that they do give him a chance to show his version of a film he created, wrote and shot.
I think the hard truth is that Wimmer knew this would happen, he is a smart man, and knows the painful truth that is Hollywood production. With all the money they put up, he had to know eventfully they would be dictating the production and final cut in particular. But if making a movie like this is your dream, and your passion, it is easy to forget(or pretend to forget) that while you may be the Artist, that paint and brushes and canvas, are paid for by the production team. So they choose the colors and the frame and the entire presentation of the final product. I love that he followed his dream, probably knowing that in the end they would distort and to some extent destroy his vision. Put your head down and do what you want to do, let the chips fall where they may. I have a lot of respect for that.

Dear Sir on Madame,
I`m just writing to see what your intentions will be for Ultraviolet when it is released on DVD. Will we see an R-rated or Unrated cut of the film or see any of the deleted scenes??
Please pass this on to anyone involved in the production of the DVD as there is a real demand for an Unrated cut of the film. The fans of Director Kurt Wimmer are really looking forward to seeing his version of the film.
Thank you for your time, Chris

Dear Sony
I am writing to enquire about an unrated/directors cut DVD of the recently released Screen Gems film UltraViolet. I am one of the many fans of director Kurt Wimmer who would really like a chance to purchase his longer edit of the movie on DVD, with the missing scenes and R rated action restored.
Would it be possible for this email to be passed on to the DVD marketing/production team, as there is a sizeable demand amongst the Kurt Wimmer/Sci-fi action fanbase for this product.
Thanks for your help
Luke

This news was posted over at the Imdb boards. www.moviesonline.ca/movienews_8247.htmlAccording to this, we'll be getting both an R-rated edition and unrated edition of the movie. The DVD is scheduled for release on June 27th.

Nice find Psyclops.
They release an R-rated and Unrated cut at the same time. Meaning what?
R-rated : Theatrical cut + blood Unrated: Theatrical cut + blood + butchered snippets.
And the deleted scenes? Will they release an extended cut?

I really am interested in the directors cut. I've read over the director vs studio cut thread, and I'm fully aware of all the differance, but that's not exactly why I want to see it.. Ultraviolet in my opinion was an OKAY sci-fi with action. I personally feel equilibrium was better, but I am still a fan of Kurt none the less.. so the real reason I want to see the directors cut is to experiance his vision, not just read about it. I look foward to more of his work.. and the ultraviolet dvd even if it is the studio cut.

Cool, but no director's cut? don`t expect to ever see a directors cut of Ultraviolet as the studio will never pay to have Wimmer re-cut the film the way he wants it. I`m just glad to have an unrated cut released. what I`m intrested in though is if they add snippets of footage back into the fight scenes won`t the musical score be off??

I get the impression that the fight scenes were probably scored before they were "edited" and if the uncut version of the film was preserved even if it wasn't Wimmer's cut, the score should be okay. Either that or, *shudder* they'll rescore the film. I see that the commentary is from "the cast", not the director. I wonder if we'll ever really know what happened between Kurt Wimmer and Sony Screen Gems? -Vespertilio
