Yeah... I'm actually a little bit impressed. With DVD it should do just fine... although I dont think we will see a sequel like Milla suggested. Hopefully Mr. Wimmer will be able to helm another film though.

Just for the sake so Wimmer can direct again it will be good for it to make its money back, or even better maybe we get a special edition EQ DVD one day.../shrug

Generally, these days, Hollywood doesn't so much care about the box office (it is nice, but if a movie doesn't do good, they don't freak out as much). They usually wait until the DVD comes out...But since I am going to get the DVD when it comes out.

A special edition 'extended' EQ DVD, with all the deleted scenes, etc., would be awesome!

I have no doubt Wimmer will keep making movies. I also have no doubt that when the "planets align" and all the elements line up perfectly for him he will direct what will become an all time classic. Mark my words.

Mark my words. My feelings exactly, except I'm still a little worried about how much money UV will get... We just have to support the movie by bringing more people, buy multiple copies of the DVD and so on.. I *SO* want special edition DVDs of Wimmer's movies!!!

Ultraviolet made already $9,000,000 since Friday. I don't want to review the movie, yet. But from this point on what I can say, is that I really liked it very much. Those people who like the movie, really understand what Wimmer wanted to show us. Ultraviolet is a visual orgasm and a non-stop roller coaster action ride. I hope we will get the Kurt Wimmer cut on DVD, because I think there is more to the story, than what was shown in the theatrical version. "Watch me" I'm not from the US, sorry if the gramma isn't always right.

according to boxofficemojo UV is set to make about 3 million this weekend which will put it 7th overall this weekend. I`m of two minds about this. In one way i want the movie to bomb becuase the studio messed with it and they need to be punished for it. But the more money the film makes the better chance we have of getting a decent DVD release. www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=ultraviolet.htm

Almost 15 mill now, should hit 20 before getting run out of the box office, another 10-20 mill from DVDs, and its PG-13 so it will get a TV syndication also, so in the end the producers will see some money back in their pocket, but no bank breakers here,

What blows my mind is that the studios are greedy and want more money, so they screw with wimmer's movie, which actually causes the movie to make LESS money.

Actually by editing the film down to 88 mins they actually make more money. By shortening the film the movie theatres can now have more showings per day.

more showings of Ultraviolet???
Techinically you right its possible. BUT its not happening...I have seen it 3 times in three different theaters....its a pretty small showings list.
Also the shortened movie time allows for OTHER showings of other movies to be held like V for Vendetta this week, and Failure to Launch (from last week).
So bottom line, its not a big box office listing its an indie film listing showing in most major theaters.

It's still showing, which means it's having more longevity than Aeon Flux ever did (Aeon shown down here for about two weeks on one screen.)

It has been pulled from one of the theaters by me and the other is only showing one at 9pm.

:)UV has almost reached the $30 Million Production Costs! 17.07.06 Domestic: $18,500,966 + Foreign: $11,049,525 = Worldwide: $29,550,491 Finally we can hope for a Directors Cut. Screen Gems(Sony) has nothing to lose anymore, you also have to count the DVD Sales, so they're already making money with the movie! My hopes came true UV DVD's are going good and the movie is still running in the movies(like here in Germany). Is there any word from Kurt Wimmer, yet? He has to say something about his movie. Even if they have chopped it and stolen it from him. In some way he still has the right to release his vision(Maybe not the full Vision, but more than we got now) WATCH ME

Gross income cannot certainly be translated into "gain"... A great part of the money goes to the theaters themselves, and I'm sure there's a lot of other "losses" along the way.
I think UV can get to positive values with the aid of DVDs, but again, you have to consider straight production costs, deliveries, the share of the stores, and so on. I don't expect Sony to ever make serious money out of this... maybe with MUCH time...

Yep, theatres get about 40% of grosses most of the time. Then there is marketing which would be a couple million right there.
