Hi guys. My opinion of how the movie ends is that Violet gets cured. Since it is generally an open ending, I'm curious what other people have concluded about the ending and what happens afterward, although there really isn't much more to guess at between two alternatives, obviously; namely, she gets cured or she doesn't.

I kinda took it similar to the ending in Equilibrium in the sense that perhaps Wimmer decided to leave it a bit open, but not exactly as if he would want to continue the story. Something about him tells me that he still wants to leave you thinking even after the movie is "over".

I know it sounds odd but I actually assumed that Violet died of her wounds and the heamophagia. It somehow makes the movie ending stronger to think of her going on one last mission, keeping herself going through willpower alone to save six, kill Daxus and get the cure to Garth, then passing away when the fight was over. I think if I was writing the script I'd have played up that angle a lot more, but then that's just me.
My guess is that Kurt was slightly leaving things open for a sequel. If UV did well then Violet would survive her wounds.
That's my guess anyhow.

My Conclusion of UltraViolet is I need to see this film again I think I have been unfair to this movie. And I also just realized something is when I saw this movie for the first time ever on DVD I just came out of a party at 2am and I was really, really drunk. And this was I think last month so I retract my previous statement that I left on one of the forums in this site (If I can find it) and I am going to see this movie again. I just hope I don't feel the same way I did when I saw this movie drunk.

I quite liked the 'open' ending. As I've said elsewhere, a movie sequel isn't going to happen. I think Wimmer wants to move on; I suspect he's not very happy with the treatment UV got from SG, and that he has new ideas he wants to do. And besides which, Milla wouldn't reprise the role anyway. What would be interesting, I think, is a comic/graphic novel series sequel. Make it into the "comic" that Wimmer envisioned making it out of. An anime film follow-up might also be interesting.

You know I was thinking that the other day. I thought maybe an animated film! lol. Like the invincibles or something. That would be strange!

You mean, The Incredibles? Yeah ... on the other hand, I don't think THAT will happen either ... there'd be too many accusations that it's just an "Aeon Flux" ripoff.

It looks like in the movie she swoons and its lights out for good, but then the closing narration suggests that she's still alive. I don't know, it seems contradictory, but I always just chalked it up to bad filmmaking.

Well .... remember though ... she narrated at the beginning though. So you know from the film's first moments that she's going to survive the action.

I dunno ... I think future "Ultraviolet" developments are really in the hands of fans. Which I'm not really sorry about. I'd rather watch a really good 3-minute video done by a fan than a crappy sequel done commercially. Some of the fan-produced EQ vids (and, um ... stories ) are awesome.
