Doesn't sound like Wimmer was involved in the unrated cut, which muddies matters. From the review: Shanghai! Shanghai! not Thailand.

Guess I won't be buying it on DVD then. I would rather see the version that Kurt came up with.

I saw the unrated cut and I have to say that the article was wrote from somebody who doesn't care about UV. Probably he didn't see the Theatrical cut as much as I did. The Unrated cut isn't Kurt Wimmers Cut, but I'm sure everybody will enjoy it more than the Theatrical Cut. Those 7 minutes really helped to see a little more what Kurt Wimmer tried to give us! I don't give a damn about more blood or gore, I watched the Unrated Cut because of the story and a little bit more (cool, style) Milla Jovovich action. Be sure to check out the Unrated cut. The only thing I really hate about the movie is the very unfinished Motorcycle scene. But I already have overlooked this bad minutes of the movie. It's not Kurt Wimmers fault, Sony just didn't finish what they should have done. WATCH ME

I'll show you a sample how the first fight scene should have been. It's with bones cracking. Click here for videoBtw, I couldn't see IGN writing anything about deleted scenes. Are there any?

Damn so that scene is still missing the explanation for the armour. Egh.. that scene is also terribly edited. If Wimmer had a hand in it, I'd be surprised, he seemed to have a far better grasp of cutting action in EQ. The pace is so uneven and everything feels cut to close (as well as shot too close).

Is this the Original Bone breaking and screams from UV or did just someone add the sounds from (Equilibrium) or another movie? Isn't the Original cut of the fight scene longer?

The sounds are from Equilibrium. I made this so people could get the idea how it would have been if there were bones cracking. I haven't finished the scene yet. I think it could use some more screaming. I'm currently working on the white room fight. Lots of screaming there. EDIT: Anyone who's interested in the white room fight click here.

I knew that those sounds reminded me of Equilibrium! You are doing a very good job taas007. Thank you very much for bringing us the fights a bit nearer how Kurt Wimmer probably wanted them to be. Go for it. WATCH ME

I just finished watching the unrated cut and enjoyed it much more than the theatrical version. The only thing that pisses me off is that the only fight where anything was added was the Library one and suddenly this is unrated?? I could see them calling this an extended cut as a few scenes were added back in but unrated it definately is not. I was hoping for the full fight scenes atleast and the picture on the back of the unrated DVD with the blood in the white room fight is just made up.
talk about false advertising.

The only thing that pisses me off is that the only fight where anything was added was the Library one and suddenly this is unrated? They added violet breaking the knees of the guards in the first fight also, but.... that's all? And why suddenly the deleted scenes were removed from the dvd?

Someone should start a new thread for this Unrated DVD because IGN are morons.
That supposed claim that the additions are barely noticable is a joke. Right at the start of the film, right after the awesome opening credit sequence, the new material is obvious to those who saw the crap theatrical cut.
IGN are to be ignored.
