Not meaning to start the console wars here...but inevitably when you bring up a console they just sort of start. I have a PS3. Anyone here on the PS3 network and what games do you play? I'd like to add you and totally beat you in Super Stardust HD. May consider purchasing some games if there is a community here.

I deal with console wars and PC wars on a day to day basis on about every other site I visit, so I don't tend to have a problem with that kind of thing here (in other words you won't find me starting one because I'm sick of having to moderate them . I'm of the opinion that every console has its strengths and weaknesses regardless of the company behind it. I've yet to get a PS3 but that's because I already went for a 360 (Mass Effect being the driving force behind that) and a Wii. I had to have the Zelda game as well as I knew the new Metroid Prime game was coming. I think Metal Gear Solid 4 on the PS3 would be a reason for my eventual purchase, as would: Heavenly Sword, but I dig those kinds of games.

Ive been a Sony boy since the original Playstation, though I quickly tired of the whole console war business. Unless you're on their payroll, it seems like a waste of time to argue over which is better...I bought both the PS1 & 2 for the games they had (plus PS2 was my first & only DVD player).
Been holding off on getting either console because Im waiting to see what happens next between HD-DVD & Bluray. Though I am leaning towards the PS3 because it is a nice bit of kit. MGS4 looks awesome & I want to play Devil May Cry 4 when it comes out (even though I know its not exclusive to the PS3).
PS3 is still a bit expensive here ATM, still around the $1000 mark...Australian. Will also be waiting until after Xmas prolly before I even think about making a decision.

Bleah. Sorry for the extra moola added to the price tag in Australia. What up with that? Ya'll are closer to Japan than we are! HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray...yet another war. I'm on an email list for our monthly LANparties, and it explodes from time to time on the whole Sony vs. Everyone Else and HD vs. Blu-ray. I think we could discuss religon more tactfully. At first we (SO and I) were not interested in consoles at all, but neither of us are interested in going to Vista (which comes with it's own miniature version of Former US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales I'm sure.) I really only recently have gotten into electronic gaming at all, but I've been playing City of Heroes for about er...3 years. But the game was recently moved to new developers, and it's starting to show. And they introduced crafting, which attracted the gold farmers. eck. The SO is more into the games that were on the Playstation 2. He's huge into Guitar Hero. I mean like mod-a-real-guitar-to-play huge. So he's looking forward for the new version. That and the options and blu-ray prompted me to get him one for his birthday. I've never messed with the Wii, but the SO didn't get into it except for the tennis. I'm not a Halo fan, apologies to NateP (and Bale, who has said he plays.) Basically the only thing I want to do in the game is smack the jeep into things, and that only lasts for about 30 minutes. And you don't want me to be "that guy" in the game that always kamikazes into you. Saw the trailers for the new Solid Snake. It looks interesting to me, as I'm unfamiliar with the franchise. The new villian "monster" things screaming went straight to my spine.

I like Halo as well, but I wouldn't call myself a fan.
I'm waiting for one game only now: Mass Effect.
