Ey i'll start off with YES i have googled this already without any luck haha. Ok problem is my direct X wont allow it self to be updated, i cant play HL2, cause its on DX2 I need to update it to DX9 or newer... well it wont upgrade it stays on Dx2 contantly no matter what i do... My card is a GeForce FX 5900 and my system is windows XP anybody know where i can get a remover/uninstaller/direct x killer anywhere? that actually works.. i'd like to remove it so i can install the new version.. Thank in advance

Umm you can't remove DirectX as it's part of Windows, I know because I once attempted the very same thing quite a few years ago.
Your best bet is to reinstall windows and try to update it after that.

Oh yeah I remember that... I tried it and I can't recall whether it worked or not. My suggestion would be to at least create a restore point before trying to remove DirectX using dxbuster in case it messes up your computer. I still think that a fresh reinstall would probably work better though.

Yes I just recently backed up all my important data first, then did a fresh install. Its running so much more efficiently now.

I've had success with it, but to be honest since DX9.0c game out I've had no real DX problems at all...I used to get loads with DX6.0 and lower, but no longer.

Yep, in the end it's always best to put Windows back on if you've got some serious probs. Of course, you could always try the DX buster if you plan to reinstall anyways.
