What's "GunZ"?

We believe sometimes you dream of becoming the cool character or hero that you saw in a movie, animation or a game.

GunZ is an online game that was produced out the idea of enabling you to realize such a dream! GunZ is not simply a simulation game of a gun fight. It allows you to imitate a famous hero, create your own fashion, and perform a number of different actions such as shooting or stabbing while running or jumping on the walls.

What makes GunZ more interesting than other games is the fact that the game is available on-line allowing easy access to its exciting elements! AND this game is FREE for playing.

Features

GUNZ was first produced in 2003 and introduced into Korea in 2004. Since then, the game has continuously evolved. It delivers excitement quite different from the one that you enjoyed with an FPS game.

* EASY TO PLAY: Configured in the operational system similar to that of the existing FPS game, a user who has tried an FPS game before will find it easy to control and enjoy it.
* ACROBATIC MOVES: All the eye-popping actions including the Hong Kong-style like John Woo or others seen in the movie Matrix are available in this on-line game. bad news. The lag is too much to handle. 9 servers I tried. I couldnt connect to anymore. You connect with a 999 ping.

I musta got lucky, I got in on my 2nd try. Spent a little over half an hour shooting, slicing and tossing smoke bombs everywhere ;D oh and I think I made a few kills along the way... ;D

I just love it when the guy I'm shooting suddenly goes down...usually though, it's because someone else got him

so let's see...how is it different from that old HL mod, The Specialists I think it was? Or was it The Opera...anyway the difference is, you earn cash bounty and exp from your kills...cash is for buying better gear, but I'm not sure about how leveling works (I made it to level 4 in one sitting). Other than that it's pretty fun, the controls are pretty easy to pick up. Wall jumps, dives and rolls are easy as pie; wall runs are a bit harder but well worth it to cross gaps and pits.

afaik when you run outa bullets, you can't get any more. you're stuck with your melee weapon which depends on your character class.

basically...it's a free for all deathmatch, with respawns and floating power ups, except that you can get better weapons and clothes/armor over time. Pretty fun

Yeah, definately fun. This is a great game for sure.

Try this for "gun kata": jump left, then in mid-air, dive right. Direction change makes you freaking impossible to hit.

What sucks is that if you have a sword, it can block bullets, but only if they are upper-body shots, and then only for a short period of time before you start getting hit. So once you're out of bullets, it's only a matter of time before you die.

But anyway, great game. I go on server 1 as "Kengou", say hi if you guys see me.

I know I saw guys blocking bullets with their swords, but I don't know how it's done...do you?

The default block button is "shift", just hold it down.

Yeah I remember playing this game a few weeks ago, it's pretty cool

If anyone wants a game just say the word, I think it should be pretty fun.

hey I cant create an accuont, when I go to their website and click on the international version, nothing works, some java error. obviously cant ready or accurately translate the korean page to register an account from there. what to do? or has the server crashed from too much traffic.

yeah, I read about that. Hell, Im suprized that nobody dropped a virus in already.

But after reading that, you can bet people will be trying to drop a virus in the system...man...I sound like the matrix

The risk is that it (very concise summary here) connects machine-to-machine without an intermediary server, and when you're playing, you're directly connected to everyone else in the game you're playing. It also opens certain ports that can be very dangerous to have open.

It just uses terrible a networking system, and is potentially a very dangerous thing to have.

basically, instead of you connecting to the server, you connect DIRECTLY into other people PC's. So, If anyone wants to put a virus on everyones PC, basically you just gotta put a virus on a gamefile, let the game execute that file, and boom: Instead virus spread across that particular GunZ server

At first: Hi there! I've just seen EQ and I can only say: Wow! Great movie, and I hope the mod will be just of the same quality

Concerning GunZ: I've played it for a short time, but I can't like it. I love this kind of fighting, let's just call it John-Woo-Style, but I don't think the game provides this fighting style good. But if you own Half-Life 1, you definately have to play "The Specialists". It's the best game providing this fighting style I've seen so far, and it's even a multiplayer game! www.specialistsmod.net/ if interested

i have to agree with you. I find this to be kind of a waste of memory when it feels just like a really poorly made ut2004 mod. Also the level design is unispired too unlike the specialist which easily has levels 3 times as large as the level in gunz. Also the weapons in the specialist are far more entertaining to use and they feel powerfull unlike the weapons in gunz. Just to bad the specialist team decided not to port to hte source engine. Now that would be fun.

Update!

I just tried to play...couldn't get into any of the servers or the client couldn't find the servers. Sorry, I don't care how cool a game is, if I can't play it, it is gone!

I've played it and i'm up to lvl 11, if its really hard to get into a server you gotta keep trying for like 2-5 mins. Its not that hard everytime though.
