Can't believe this one slipped past my radar! Finally a games company, the one responsible for "Enter the Matrix", Atari & Shiny Entertainment are developing a Matrix game where you can play as 'The One'. Now its no longer the domain for mod makers of HL & Max Payne to re-create the best parts of the Matrix triology. biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050214/nym026_2.htmlThe Matrix: Path of Neo is slated for a release late 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. So hopefully this time, they won't be under the ridiculously quick release date that ETM had (trying to coincide with the films) & try to rush something out thats full of bugs. The combat system of ETM was quite good, but the less said about the driving sections...the better. *Make "come on" gesture with outretched hand* Bring this game on!

Oh yes the driving scenes were very pathetic.

Is the "late 2005 release for Xbox and Ps2" gonna count in the PC release aswell or will it only come later?

From what I understand part of it will be just like the movies and there will still be alarge section of the game that is new.
Atari has been doing wonders with games oflate so it should be good. And so far the leaked/previewed screenshots look amazing. And a pre-view artical also stated it was able to move beyond some of the problems of the first game and the on-line game.
Amazing the work the Bros can achieve when $$$ and fandom pressure is almost nill!
The 'W bros' have full control over the action and story amd are insisting that it will flow seamlessly throught the action of the movies and the animatrix.
off-topic Nice name Zen, I use it myself at another fandom.

Well, the game is due for release soon...first week of November IIRC. Bought a Gamepro magazine with a cool moving holgraph thing with Neo flying from Reloaded - the game sounds pretty cool, you even start out dodging Agents in the office cubicles, and you don't have to give in like Neo does in the film....you can make your way to the top of the building if you want. Not sure whether to get it for PS2 or PC though.
God its sooooo great having a birthday around this time of year....Path of Neo, New Gladiator DVD, Revenge of the Sith DVD, Farscape Seasons 1-4 Box set....
Certainly saves me some pennies!

Yes SW:BF2 looks great...watched a gameplay vid the other day. Yoda & Darth looked awesome in action!
And if you get the chance to preview it Wolfie - can you let me know which version is better for TM:PON.... the PC or PS2 version (especially note how each handles the Burly Brawl sequence).

It does say preview...but if you actually watch it, it plays like a review - without an actual score.

My thoughts on it so far, after seeing it running. I think you'll like it Mr. A, but it is hampered by some horrible gfx glitches, low res models and some annoying frame-rate drops. That said, the combat system is fairly free-form and being able to upgrade Neo is pretty nifty.
It will appeal to a true Matrix fan but I sense a lot of other fans are going to rip into it.

What did you play it on Wolfie? PS2?
Apparenty the PC version is supposed to have far better resolution GFX. As in a grenade thats thrown has motion blur on it, whereas the on the PC you can read the serial number on it.

In my case Xbox version, but I am still enjoying the game regardless of the hang-ups. The combat is pretty darn impressive tbh.
The PC version sounds as though it's pretty good though, with the extra resolution options etc.

I got the X-Box version, so far I'm pretty happy with it. Combat can be iffy but most of the time its quite fun. Same said for the gun-play. You can kick guys into the air and waste then as they soar through the sky. I just upgraded disarms too so now when I take their gun I waste them ;D. I gotta say so far its an 8.5/10. I agree though since it seems to be cool to not like The Matrix these days that some people will unfairly rip this game and focus on all the bad points. I'm only a little past the training programs but I'm having a blast. You gotta love all the cinema references they stuck in the training programs like Enter the Dragon, Sword of Doom, Crouching Tiger and Hard Boiled to name some. The multi-enemy combat aspect is pretty cool too. I love the multi staff combo. It's some staff moves finished off by a split kick like in the burly brawl. Great game, and a huge improvement over Enter the Matrix.

Oh and I'll report on the game over the weekend. Wanted to get to it but I'm finishing Serious Sam II and the campaign for Battlefront 2. I also picked up The Movies today. Been looking foward to this one. With the exception of Black and White I've never been dissapointed by Peter Molyneux...

Can't you order stuff online? I know there are a few gaming places that ship all over the world... Theres the whole issue of it being PAL as opposed to NTSC, plus if there's something wrong with the disc I don't want to have to go through the whole rigmarole of sending it back to where it came from, etc. Nah, just easier & less painful to wait another 1-2 weeks I think. Might even consider putting that money towards getting my PS2 modded & a HD put in only another 100-150 bux more... And good to hear from Wolf & alcades that the gameplay is good - I'm not so concerned about mind blowing graphics these days...its the fun factor I'm more worried about. I wouldn't bother if had average to crap playability. Plus the graphics looked fine to me from the trailers & preview video & the animations looked pretty solid as well....

I heard a lotta bad things about Path of Neo, but I won't assume anything until the game is in my hands and I play it ^_^. I saw the review for it on IGN.com, they only said good things really, I wish I knew the name of that song that plays in the beginning of the video review, I want it

I beat it today and all I can say is umm..... the new ending is very unique. Still it's a pretty good game but Devil May Cry 3 is still my favorite action game. Still, Path of Neo is a fun game that really captures a great deal of the Matrix experience. My only major gripe was with the target system for the guns, I don't mind auto lock but the target reticule will stay on an enemy even after the have been killed and you have to manually cycle to another live foe. If you like Neo, try a game called Advent Rising it's similar in idea but the melee combat is not as robust as Neo.
