This is an early review, I have played about 5 levels so far. Running on an AMD XP 2800+ 1gig ram and an ATI Radeon 9800pro vid card. I'm getting decent framerates at 1024x768 on high quality, there is an ultra quality setting that I have'nt tried yet. As for the game. OMFG!!!! I've been playing with lights out and headphones on, and so far I've jumped out of my seat 3 or 4 times. I have'nt been this scared in a game since those headcrabs in Half-Life. Basically it's Doom all over again but instead of being run and gun you spend alot of time peeking around corners and sneaking around waiting to get jumped. The tension level is unbelievable and if it keeps up for the rest of the game it's game of the year easy. The graphics blow away anything you have seen including Far-Cry, and I'm talking waaay ahead of the curve here. When you shine your flashlight around you can see the dust particles in the beam, when you come across a hot hose or something you see the heat shimmering off the floor. Monsters are amazingly detailed as are the levels. Sound is great and the screams of dying people haunt you well after you stop playing. On one level I walked into a room, on the right was windows looking into a power station, on the left there was a dark nook from which a demon came out and scared the hell out of me. I killed him and turned to stare through the window to check out the graphics in the power station. (you spend alot of time just staring at things, gawking if you will) So I'm staring through the glass and I hear a noise behind me. In the reflection of the glass I see the demon I killed coming back for more. It was the most realistic moment I ever had in a game. Simply awesome. Going back for more.. will give it a rating when I finish the game !
