$0.02?
-hmm... this is a difficult subject to have an objective look at for me since, as we all know, EQ is a monster machine of rocking perfection. but for the answer i look to The Matrix.
-remember when "bullet time" first came about and everyone was like "whoa, bullet time. they need to put that into other action movies." looking at that time in retrospect, i sort of have to shake my head. it has been hashed, rehashed (badly on most occasions) and spoofed so many times that it is hard to take the trinity scene at the beginning w/ the flying/stalling jump kick seriously anymore. i would desperately disapprove of this happening to gun-kata though i do think it is possible.
-with an EQ fan base growing as it is around the world, the movie is setting up for quite a sci-fi cult status. thus leading to people mimicking some of the ideas and concepts. this popularity also opens these concepts and ideas to the possiblity of them being bastardized by crappy movies. this doesnt mean that anything relating to gun-kata in other movies will be automatically bad, it can just... well... its like that new song that you hear on the radio and really like. everyone else finds out about it and likes it too so the radio plays it more and more until everyone is sick of it and never want to hear it again.
-this is what i desperately want to avoid in this situation. everything is good in moderation. i welcome the gun-kata ideas being played with and tweaked and everything else, i just dont want to see it every time i turn my head. get me? ::shakes fist at copy cat directors::
-i find myself getting awfully tingly at the concept of coupling gun-kata w/ new and different types of martial arts styles. i am curious to see ultraviolet.
