Does anyone know what kind of holsters are used to make the cleric's guns slide from his sleeves? If so, does anyone have any pics of them? I've tried looking for it on the net and I can't find anything except short little blurbs here and there.

They were probably made just for this movie. There are other movies that use the same idea though, like Desperados...

It's my job to know what you're thinking.

I doubt they actually exist, it's just a prop for the movies. I suppose you could try to make your own one, taxi driver style. Personally, I don't think they'd make things like this, fucking round with firearms in such a way isn't something I'd approve of.

Its mostly fictional, but if you had the right coat and sleeves, it could be done!

Some rail of sorts, with a spring loaded thing (can't think of the English word right now) with the gun attached to it. The construction would be pretty simple, but the problem would be actuating the thing to pop out whenever you want to. 'flexing your arm' isn't really an option, because you do that a lot all day, and I don't think the gun should pop out every 20 seconds There was also a movie (was a weird movie, nor particulary interesting, so I forgot the title, lol) where some guy (playing either god or the devil, I forgot) had a system just like it for a TV remote.. now THAT would be cool! (of for your cellphone!)

I dont think there were ever wrist holsters made. His sleeves certainly aren't big enough to hold the guns and you never see a full close up sequence of the popping out of the sleeve and ending up in his hands.
Watch Red Heat if you want to see some in working order. The bad guy has one, although the gun used is much much smaller (obviously) as no real 'standard' sized handgun would fit up a sleeve.

Ok, I've actually drawn out how to do this. First, pick up a pair of drawer sliders (local hardware store, bout $14), find the ones about 12" long, buy a pair of thick football wrist guards, drill holes though the pads and into the sliders, insert second half of slider into screwed on piece, unscrew gun handle cover, screw slider #2 into gun, replace handle cover. That was really hard to understand, probably, but I hope it helps. Oh, and as for not having the guns constantly sliding out of your sleeves, buy a pair of gloves, and fashion a small piece of springloaded metal into the gloves facing in towards your wrist, so the barrel of the gun rests on it. When you move your hands back, the metal moves with the glove, revealing the gun.

interesting idea, Trent. I was actually thinking somewhere along those lines. I might have to give that a try someday.

They were certainly something interesting for the movie, that and the fact they also function as a reloading mechanism for the cleric's sidearm. They might not be feasible, but what they are is COOL and to Wimmer I think, that's all that matters.

The holsters are real and I'm attempting to recreate them myself. I'll try to post pics of my progress. But I need help. I can't seem to get the release button to work correctly. So far my idea is to use a wire wrapped around my finger. There has to be a better way. Any ideas? -Preston

These wrist holsters have been around for years. They are a custome job each time, due to the length of the arm of the operator. NORMALLY they are used to hide a small weapon, like a derranger or a .22 or .25 SA. I like the idea of recreating them, it is a challenge... If you are looking for a "break away" idea, you could use a snap...with a quick twist of the wrist, they would disconnect. Or you could go with a "nylon" screw that attaches the holster to the firearm...then a twist of the wrist would "break" the nylon screw and you are "detached". The only problem with nylon, you would have to either drill out or "easy out" the broken stub each time...

Nice. It was so obvious. I kept trying to get it to slide down on a piece of metal. Thanx a lot man! -Preston

Now maybe in only seeing it three times I missed something, but in the five second katana battle of Preston vs. ah, uh, his new partner, the black dude (You know who I'm talking about and I'll remember eventually) it seems like it's a double shoulder holster rig that Preston cut away. Of course this doesn't explain the whole sliding-down-the-sleeves thing, but it frankly would be a more practical way to carry a pair of big machine pistols. I know this answers nothing. Just my .02
