though I've seen the film twice, I can't remember what Beethoven piece is used in one of the scense where Preston discovers the room full of sense offence items. I think it's the first movement of the 9th symphony but I'm not sure.
Anyone know for sure?
Anyway, sorry if this has already appeared in a thread, I've just joined the forum and haven't yet had time to look through the old posts.
Ta!

Welcome Snufkin. Glad you joined our group!!
The music is definitely Beethoven's 9th and I think it is the first movement though I could be wrong on that.

Yup it's the first movement. I'm listening to it now - I have the Karajan version which Wimmer said he wanted to use at first but he didn't have enough money for the licensing rights so he found a "bargain basement" version instead.

Hey koalabear,
Could you check the credits on your DVD and see if that "bargain basement" version is credited? I have someone who wants to know exactly which version it is.

Hi JenGe - I checked, unfortunately it was such a cheap recording it's uncredited!!! Just in case anyone's interested, here's the commentary from Wimmer from one of his commentaries on the Beethoven scene. www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/fitzgerald/8/eq/beethoven.htmIt's about 3 and a half minutes. [It should work now :]

Well, no one seems to know which version the film one is but have you tried looking for Beethoven's 9th on some of the share sites. (IE. Kazaa...)

JenGe: You're welcome. Ark - just a word of warning though, the first movement of the 9th Symphony is approx. 16min 30sec so the would be quite large. I own the CD of the Karajan recording and an mp3 of that at variable bitrate is approximately 13meg.

Oooooh!.. on a side note I made an audio file encompassing all of the Equilibrium songs into one .wav file. Two downsides, one it's HUGE and it's bad quality. But I still have it!
