will there be a 2nd movie to this great movie? Everyday I hope that this would happen, but KW said no, so I hope that they dont make one without him. As he said I think EQ stands alone. But it would be great. You should wait for KW's new film called Ultra Violet, that should cure your craving, as I hope it will for all of us.

I wonder what Kurt will come up with this time Any plot for the movie (too lazy to use google )? And what goes for EQ I would really like to see a prequal for it as I have stated in these treads earlier. I just dont think a sequal would work after EQ

Ultraviolet is about a future society where humans are at civil war with a subhuman species of vampire. THe vampires have more strengh, speed agility, focus, and all that other stuff. Milla Jovovich plays a vampire named Violet, who is forced into protecting a little boy (Cameron Bright) whose blood contains some kind of antigen that could wipe out humankind. Shooting is scheduled to start in December 2004 when Milla is finished filming the second Resident Evil movie. She will also be getting in shape for the role. The budget is reported to be at 30 Million smackaroos so far. We've seen what KW can do with 20 million in 54 days. Imagine what he could do with the extra ten million and a longer shooting schedule. KW also said he wants to focus on REALLY elaborate action this time. He didn't say if Gun Kata would be in the film or not, but he said there will be hand to hand, blunt weapon (kali sticks), sword fighting, gun fighting, and a "type of combat never seen before." I can't wait to see what this is. Trust me, get excited.
By the way, apparently this movie will be getting a wide release. So we wont have to wait for the DVD to se Kurt work his magic.

Am I the only one who think a sequel (prequel, surely?) would be.... a bit crap?

Am I the only one who think a sequel (prequel, surely?) would be.... a bit crap? I dont think so, it would depend on how you did it. I think the EQ universe would be able to host more fiction. Like I have said before, ONLY IF KW does it. And he does not want to so it should not be done. But in theory, I think it could be cool with the right script.

I think Equilibrium stands very well on its own ... unless a sequel was Amazingly well done, I'd rather see it stay on its own.
Look what happened to Highlander when they brought sequels out ... yeuch.

I honestly beleive that with Kurt Wimmer on board again, a sequel to EQ could possibly be cool. But EQ really was an amazing, self contained film, yeah, it could be expanded upon, but theres absolutely no reason for it.
I'm waiting for the next film though, as he said in the DVD, theres stuff that he wanted to do in EQ that he's saving for the next movie (the fight with Dupont was meant to be even better!) So it's probably going to be really cool! Even if it does give me horrible flashbacks of Underworld... ugh..

Anyway, Kurt Wimmer said somewhere that there probably will be a sequel, but it'll have nothing to do with him. It would be a decision made by the production company, purely to squeeze money out of an already established idea. Chances are, it'll be crap. ahh, underworld is not really good enough to even mention in the same sentence as EQ, I mean, do you post at the underworld website? I thought Underworld would be bad, but never as bad as it was. The trailer was better than the film, and watching it was free too. I don't post at the underworld website.

I LIKED Underworld...sniffle. Maybe I'm just to easily pleased by Vampire women in leather with guns. ;D Personally, I think an EQ is a complete story in itself, and a sequal simply for the sake of it would probably not be in it's best interest, especialy if there was no Kurt Wimmer. It would be like making The Killer without John Woo. But I do think the world of Libria does lend itself to further exploriation, in whatever media may be suitable. Books, animae and so forth. And if Kurt CAN come up with a story he likes for EQ2, I'll be more than happy to buy my cinema ticket.

Is the new KW fil, "Ultra Violet" based on the British TV series of the same name at all. They both involve vampires....

Hang on a minute...how can they make a sequel??
The should make an Equilibrium when Preston has no feelings and it can focus on the demise of Sean Bean...

Wouldn't that be pretty much the same concept as the first movie, just with Partridge learning to feel instead of Preston?
I think it'd be nice to see the end of libria, seeing how society copes with all these emotions flooding in at once. Whether or not people would embrace freedom, or become corrupted by it, or if people would become frightnened into taking prozium again. Stuff like that, and with all these factions springing up, it'd give a good ass kicking opportunity.

Hi benjie & welcome, No Wimmer's Ultraviolet is not at all based on the British TV series though the titles are the same. Note though that Screen Gems could chance the title at anytime. Equilibrium had quite a few...Librium, Defender, The Cleric...

yeah, underworld is too low to be talkin about here. a prequel to EQ might work and my friends and i have had discussions about a sequel(which would not work) the deal is(which, i'm just repeating this thread) EQ really stands on it's own but it would be cool to see his son as a cleric.oh yes. and shep(that's the dogs name, by the way) would be like, an attack dog. bombdiggity. i'm stupid. yeah. just remember, you are gaining nothing by reading this except for this: the dog's name is shep. don't y'all forget it. i'm watching, and if anyone refers to shep by anything less than his official name, i'm reporting you.lol. it's freakin' late and i'm gonna go to sleep now. shep,shep,shep,shep...
